I have pictures but am having trouble uploading them. I'll post later. I saw Jim today and he looked wonderful!!! We talked and he was very aware of what was happening around him. He wanted to go home today but they are keeping him another night. John and Chris will get help with his care from the VA. Oh how, I wish everyone were able to see him today. Because of Covid, procedures to get in were very strict. WE were de-contaminated both going and coming. Because of my "age", I had to wear extra protection. To: All (#0) New Update from Amy: Hello,Friends. Its a beautiful Saturday! John and Chris bought an electronic air mattress that varies the pressure points. Also, the VA has supplied him with a manually-inflated air mattress. Yesterday he was using both. LOL VA transported Jim home yesterday about 4:00. Ten minutes later he was sleeping in comfort. Home health care will not be there until Monday. When I talked to Chris this morning, he said that all’s swell there. His mind is back to normal. He hasn’t been back in his power chair yet. He isn’t having any pain in the pressure sores but has been having discomfort in his legs. He asks John or Chris to massage his “stumps”. He is going to call me later. God is good!!! I drove to the VA today, but wasn't allowed to visit with my dad. I was able to speak with his doctor though, and she said that they are treating him for Covid pneumonia, but stressed that they are uncertain if he actually has pneumonia. This is because he had tested positive for Covid on the 22nd, two days before they discharged him on the 24th. On Saturday, dad started having trouble breathing, and asked us to call 911. The EMTs recommended that they transport him back to the VA. They have him in the Covid section, but don't know yet if his shortness of breath is Covid related. I haven't heard from any doctors yet, but I'm about to drive over to the VA shortly. I had dad on the phone for roughly 6 hours last night, about half that time he was sleeping. While awake though, he was very clear-minded - even helped me with some Free Republic operations questions. I'll keep you all posted as news comes in. Thank you all for your prayers. He's in very high spirits, the delirium is gone, and his breathing is normal. Tomorrow, July 2nd, his Covid quarantine will be over and the VA will transfer him to a short-term rehab facility to regain some of his physical strength. All in all, things are looking great!!
