The layoffs announced Friday affect facilities where the chain operates Jewel supermarkets and Osco drug stores under one roof. Jewel has traditionally operated such stores with two managers, one for the Jewel food business, the other for the Osco pharmacy operation. The company said in Friday's statement that in the future it will have just one manager for each store, leading to 110 lost store director jobs.
