First, congress has decided to pay the salaries, benefits and pensions of Ukraine political officials and citizens. As U.S. citizens try and figure out how to afford housing, gasoline, food and basic goods, congress has decided to subsidize another country. That’s the first point. Second, as to the pragmatic question of “to what end?” There was a critical point made last week by Defense Intel Agency (DIA) Director Lt. Gen. Scott Berrier, that not a single media outlet or politician discussed. During his briefing to the Senate Armed Services Committee, Berrier was asked “can Ukraine win” the conflict against Russia? Lt. General Berrier replied: “That is a difficult predication to make. I think where the assessment is at, is a prolonged stalemate should no factor change on either side. In other words, the Russians continue to do what they’re doing, and we continue to do what we are doing for the Ukranians.” WATCH: The Pentagon assessment is the best that can be achieved is a stalemate. Billions of billions of dollars being poured into Ukraine, and the most likely outcome is a stalemate. More people killed, an endless need for continued money to be poured into the ‘war’, and the best possible outcome is a stalemate. So, riddle me this, why isn’t the U.S. policy position advocating for Zelenskyy and Putin to enter negotiations for a resolution? What possible U.S. interest can be advanced, knowing the only outcome is a stalemate, where people are killed on either side and money spent on a proxy conflict that ends in loggerheads at some distant point months from now? Also, why has no U.S. media outlet or pundit played the remarks and assessment from the Defense Intelligence Agency, so that the American people can understand the intent of U.S. policy? To: 3-Dee (#0) Simple. People are dying on both sides, yes. The Ukrainians dying are brave, etc., etc. But they are not NATO allies. They HAVE TO fight for their independence. The alternative is to be swept into Russia and crushed. So, they will fight as long as we arm them, for years and years, like the mujahadeen. On the other side is the enemy, Russia. Russia doesn't HAVE TO be the enemy, but they CHOOSE to be by being atavistic, aggressive fucks. However, as long as the West pours in weaponry, the Russians can't win, and keep getting chewed up. The Russians ae dying at three times the Ukrainian rate. And their heavy equipment is being destroyed. So, it is a stalemate, yes. But a lengthy stalemate is very good for the United States. Russia had an economy the size of Italy's, but with sanctions and contractions, now it's the size of the Netherlands, and falling further and further. They HAVE TO devote it to the war, because they are ruled by a dictator and don't have the courage to throw him off. So they HAVE TO destroy themselves more and more and more every day. They cannot escape the suicide trap into which they have stuck their own heads. They are too proud and stubborn to admit defeat, so they have to die, and as they die, they deplete their armaments, deplate their army, and wreck their economy. The longer the war goes on, the more of a shipwreck Russia becomes. Let it go on for a full year, and they will have nothing left, and never be able to get back up again. Russia has been our enemy since 1917, and we have them in a place now where we can cause themselves to snuff themselves out of existence by their own bloated stupidity. We would be mad not to exploit it. The other thing is China. Big, bad, powerful China. We don't want to fight China in Taiwan, and China looks at Russia and they see themselves imploding too. They already have a first rate economic fire raging, getting into a naval and air war with the West over Taiwan that they can't win, and having trade cut off. The more Russia is destroyed, the less likely China will EVER move on Taiwan, or Japan, or the Philippines, or South Korea. So, by grinding the Russians into the dirt, we also contain China. It costs us no blood at all. Just a little money. $40 billion in a $6 trillion budget is two thirds of 1% - a pittance. Especially when compared wirth the US military budget, which is $750 billion. Wear out Russia the most effective way: by directly destroying their army and troops, and contain China completely, for $40 billion, with no US losses? It's a no-brainer, ESPECIALLY since the whole alliance is together to do it for the first time, well, EVER. The folks without brains are the ones whining about it. Are you really that blind and dumb? Really? It's incomprehensibly stupid not to see why this is necessary. In fact, it's SO stupid that to advocate it, people think that you MUST be a Russian sympathizer. So, which is it? While I agree with some objections to our aid to Ukraine while not protecting our southern border, and I also object to so many of our political elite having financial involvement there. And fulling realizing Ukraine is a very corrupt nation, and a corrupt history. Yeah, what nation does not ? I also truly believe that much, maybe most of our foreign aid is a money laundering scam, which ends up in the pockets of our politicos that pushed & voted for it. That said, I am not a Russian shill ! I do think the biggest threat to the US is China. But I do not think Russia is benign. Therefore I agree with your short and explicit essay. To: Stoner (#2) (Edited) OH, we shuld DEFINITELY protect our southern border! But it's not linked to destroying Russia in the Ukraine, and can't be. Destroying Russia is a separate good. The problem with the southern border is purely US domestic politics, namely, the Democrats thought that replacing the existing US population with Mexicans would give them power forever. Trouble for them is - and I will put this in crude racial terms - Hispanics ain't blacks. They're Italians, or Portuguese, or Spaniards, in terms of how they behave. They come from Western countries themselves, poor, but capitalist, Christian, and have had their own socialist disasters in their history. They're not stupid, and they're not coming from places where they are oppressed minorities. So, they're coming here for job, to have money, to raise their families, and are not complicated with all of the weird emotionalism of American blacks. Result: yeah, when they're poor they need welfare, and they support Democrats for that. BUT - and it's a HUGE BUT - once Hispanics are here, they work like crazy people, and as a result, they don't STAY poor and "black". The move into the working class, and the lower middle class, etc., quickly, like the Italians, or the Irish, or ever other Catholic people that came over. And because they never were black in the first place, they vote their ecomomic interests, not their weird racial trauma. Result: more and more and more Hispanics vote Republican, the deeper set they get in America...because they're Irish and Italian and Portuguese and Spanish, NOT black. Hell, even blacks aren't black. Blacks from Africa and from the Caribbean are like Hispanics. Poor, yes, but very conservative, and family- clannish. They come and need welfare and are left wing, to start, but they move up quickly, and start voting their economic interest. There is no group that despises African Americans as much as Africans and Caribbean blacks, because Africans and Caribbean blacks are white, actually. They come from places where they are the majority, and are not twisted and traumatized by weird self-defeating ideas. Yeah, I'm using "black" here in the most offensive way possible - to American Leftists. Because I don't give a shit what they think. Truth is, people are people. Hispanics have brown skin, and Africans and Caribbeans have black skin. And my skin is so pink it's painful in the sun. And all three of us think the same way: family, work, jobs - no times for all of the emotional bullshit over skin color. WHO CARES? AMerican blacks care, and the Democrats who pander to them really thought that by opening the floodgates to the Caribbean and to Latin America, that America would be flooded by more blacks and they would vote Democratic forever. Nope. Didn't happen. We STILL have to control the Mexican border, but it's not for the reason s the Democrats whine about leaving it open. It's not about "replacement", because replacement isn't really happening. It's about stopping CRIME, and stopping freeloading, and stopping the craziness. Nothing wrong with immigration, but we need to control it and channel it, and not be overwhelmed by too many poor people all at once. We need to bring the poor southerners in in numbers that let them rapidly rise - they rise anyway, but at the cost of losing control of the bottom of the labor force and yes, unemploying a lot of blacks in the process, and poor whites. You control immigration so that the American poor can have jobs. Otherwise they will be driven out of jobs by harder working and smarter Mexicans on their way up. That's really the truth. At the bottom of the pyramid will always be the ne'er do well Democrats. There will always be the dumb, lazy and feckless. And they need jobs, not welfare, so you have to keep the foreign numbers down EVEN THOUGH those foreigners will end up mostly making better citizens than the dirt bag Democrats at the bottom of American society, and EVEN THOUGH a large number of those Hispanics will crawl right out poverty and eventually become Republicans. The Democrats, as usual, are wrong about everything. The reason to control the southern border is compassion for OUR OWN poor people. But the Democrats have been powerful enough to keep it open. The crowning irony is that while they HAVE imported a lot of Latinos, the Latinos are just white, and end up voting Republican more and more and more, because the Democrats are bat shit crazy and pander to American blacks, and nobody needs that shit. That's the truth. And it's funny. Maybe if the Republcans take the government the border will be controlled. Maybe.
