Corrupt Government Title: (Sellout) McConnell Swipes at ‘isolationistÂ’ Rand Paul, Says He Represents ‘a tiny percentageÂ’ of Senate GOP McConnell Swipes at isolationist Rand Paul, Says He Represents a tiny percentage of Senate GOP Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) took a swipe at fellow Kentucky Senator Rand Paul (R) on Thursday, calling Paul an isolationist after he voted against the $40 billion aid package for Ukraine. Appearing on Fox Newss Special Report, McConnell dismissed Pauls opposition to the bill as representative of only a tiny percentage of Senate Republicans. My colleague, Senator Paul, has always been basically an isolationist, McConnell told host Bret Baier. Hes proud of it and believes thats where America ought to be. That is a tiny percentage of the Senate Republican Conference. Theres always been a strand of isolationism in our party, McConnell continued, but its not anywhere near the dominant view, which was expressed in the vote that we had today and will be expressed again when we vote on the admission of Finland and Sweden into NATO. Paul was one of just 11 GOP senators to oppose the massive spending bill, and while his point of view may not represent the majority of Republican lawmakers, it gathered a tremendous amount of support from Republican voters online a fact McConnell apparently either doesnt know about or doesnt care about. In response to the news that the Senate passed the bill, the tiny sample of tweets below actually represents a great many conservative Americans who are furious at their representatives for funneling money to Ukraine when inflation, crime, soaring gas prices, and a shortage of baby formula are plaguing our nation. Im angry, wrote one user. Out of all the Republicans in the Senate, only 11 are not Rinos, noted another. Sad to say not a single one is from Texas! But hey, their pockets are nice and fat now! In the meantime, were scrambling around to keep our homes together. A third simply posted a meme, suggesting McConnell may have struck a deal with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on his recent surprise visit to the war-torn nation. My guess is they choose to borrow the $ bc Americans might just decide they need the $500 more to pay for gas. Paul, his opposition to the bill wasnt an example of isolationism but one of common sense. Opposing big government spending is not isolationism, its common sense, Paul said in a statement, The Hill reported. Our country faces an inflation crisis and adding more debt now is a mistake. As for Zelenskyy, the Ukrainian president was thrilled to receive Americans hard-earned money. I praise the [U.S.] Senates approval of the Additional Ukraine Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2022, he tweeted Thursday. $40 billion is a significant [U.S.] contribution to the restoration of peace and security in Ukraine, Europe and the world. We look forward to the signing of the law by @POTUS.
