Take out the word "mammon" and substitute the word "Mary".
With the Catholic, Mary sits as the "second master" in their heart, acting as a subtle diversion away from Christ.
While it may be subtle, the diversion Mary causes undermines the "fullness" of Christ, preventing Catholics from salvation through Christ alone.
Christ will not play "second fiddle" to any mere human, and that is why the Catholic heart remains empty, devoid of the indwelling Holy Spirit.
