There are undoubtedly many opinions surrounding Gog, Magog, and the intensely complex themes in these biblical texts. GotQuestions is one of the outlets that has provided an explainer regarding Russia, among other facets.

Jesus talking to the Churches, which is good. Jesus closing out the set at the end, which is good. And then John's crazy fever dream in the middle with all the imagery, which is opaque and useless.
You see, the way I see it, there comes a time in a man's life when he needs to think and no longer simply believe what his parents taught him, or some pastor somewhere. You reach a certain age and you've got the information in there to think for yourself.
I'm pretty smart, and have been interested in religion for years, so I've read. I've especially read the Bible, in different versions, over and over and over. KJV, NIV, New American Bible, RSV, NRSV, Jersualem, Concnrdant, NKJV, l'Edition du Nouveau Monde, and interlinears too, of the Greek, of the Hebrea, of the different main base texts - Bible after Bible I've read, and I've come to many realizations in the process.
I've also read oceans of commentary ABOUT the Bible, its translations, issues, considerations. Some of it polemic, with people accusing each other of bad faith, being agents of Satan, etc.
First, they all mostly say exactly the same thing.
Second, I'll notice that where they differ, it is almost always an issue of which underlying text one has translated, but also, it's a matter of the preference of the translator - what the translator believes is how the text is translated.
Third, I will note that most people do not have the patience or the reasonableness to hold different translations in their mind. They have to chose ONE, and reject the others. But I hold several in my mind at once, and I consider the difference, sometimes the wide difference, in views to be interesting and worth further exploration.
Other people are superstitious and ignorant, and if what they discover differs from what they learned, or what their own pastor (who himself has very probably not read as much or as deeply) says, they are inclined to start screaming at the source that says something different, AS IF they were contacted by God and told THE TRUTH.
That they believe that, of course, is pathetic. Several of you sure talk that way, as though God talked to you and gave you correct details.
And this authorizes you to be assholes to other people.
Which, then, either awakens their inner asshole, and you bark at each other like junkyard dogs.
Or it encourages the people who have actually taken the time to read so much, and think so much, to just walk on by, disgusted.
Not everybody, I am sure...plus, you always bring up interesting points for lurkers to consider.

BTW...and when you feel unfairly "shat upon", it is always wise to just consider the source. They usually ain't folks you have a burning need to impress and bring over to your way of thinking on this issue or that.
