Title: Two Shortages That Threaten To Absolutely Eviscerate The Global Economy In 2022

This was supposed to be the year that things “got back to normal”, but here we are at the end of January and things have only gotten worse.

As we move forward into February and beyond, there are two key global shortages that we are going to want to keep a very close eye on.

One of them is the rapidly growing fertilizer shortage. A few days ago, the Wall Street Journal ominously warned that “high fertilizer prices are weighing on farmers across the developing world”…

From South America’s avocado, corn and coffee farms to Southeast Asia’s plantations of coconuts and oil palms, high fertilizer prices are weighing on farmers across the developing world, making it much costlier to cultivate and forcing many to cut back on production.

That means grocery bills could go up even more in 2022, following a year in which global food prices rose to decade highs. An uptick would exacerbate hunger—already acute in some parts of the world because of pandemic-linked job losses—and thwart efforts by politicians and central bankers to subdue inflation.

According to the International Fertilizer Development Center, exceedingly high fertilizer prices could result in a reduction of agricultural output in Africa alone “equivalent to the food needs of 100 million people”.

So this is a really, really big deal.

I took Economics back in the day, both Micro AND Macro, but I don't know how any society can actually have a genuine shortage of fertilizer...MUD

Phosphates.

Researchers say humanity could only produce half the food it does without phosphate and nitrogen, though the latter is essentially limitless as it makes up almost 80% of the atmosphere.

“Phosphate supply is potentially a very big problem,” said Martin Blackwell, at Rothamsted Research, an agricultural research centre in the UK, and lead author of a new study. “The population is growing and we are going to need more food.”

At current rates of use, a lot of countries are set to run out of their domestic supply in the next generation, including the US, China and India, he said. Morocco and the Moroccan-occupied territory of Western Sahara host by far the largest reserve, with China, Algeria and Syria the next biggest, together representing more than 80% of global rock phosphate.

Phosphate supply shortage, eh? Got it... appreciate your copy/paste. Gotta be some undiscovered phosphate-rich regions somewhere in North America, right? And I am all for sanctioning the ChiComz and BigPharma to the point that BigPharma is induced to move ALL manufacture of pharmaceuticals for American use must be completed within America, and maybe Canada and Mexico, IF they assist us better in defending our borders. Those sanctions against Chi-Com slave labor should extend to computer chips and other items declared necessary for National Security. Our goal is to create economic conditions in China that lead to inner turmoil within the now- enslaved Chinese people. Xi Xinping is a placeholder, a tinpot tyrant, and is much- despised by the vast majority of the non- Commies in China.

IMHO...the only thing holding China together is a shared fear of another Rape of Nanking and a brutal internal police state that squelches every source of non-conformity in their BillionComrade citizenry. The EffeteElite PowerzThatBe in Beijing are shameless Slavemasters and Accomplices to Mass-Murder and eventually the enslaved, ignorant Sheeple of China shall learn the Truth about their leadership and then rise up and DETHRONE their Communist Ruling Class in a relatively bloodless civil insurrection and the abolition of Marxism and Marxist ideology.

Sic Semper Tyrannus...Thus Always to Tyrants...MUD

It's fun being an Architect/Builder, but I am gonna need the expertise of a Structural Engineer for this move...MUD
