The people on the so-called right who want smaller government and a return to the Constitution are being marginalized and co-opted right before our eyes. CPAC is just one vehicle to do it. What's left of the fledgling Tea Party movement in '10 and '12 will either find itself in the republican party or completely discredited by our so-called friends in right-wing media and talk radio. So - you can fault some on the movement for their political naivete - but why do you continue to impugn their motives? I may be the "Fool On The Hill" - but you clowns who support the Obamas, Pelosis and Reids of the world are the real fools.
Day after day, Because they're being willing tools. A full break with both political parties is needed if anything is ever going to change. Sitting back while you're being assimilated accomplishes nothing.
If that turns out to be true, then the Dems will run someone against him in 2012. My guess is that her initials will be H.C.
And nothing short of a full and complete economic collapse will bring that about. So here we are.

Day after day, THIS particular tea-partyier was against going into Iraq, but I can't speak for others. I suspect opinions run the spectrum. Day after day, PPP put out a poll yesterday showing Obama still beating Huckabee, Palin, Romney or Thume. Palin fares worst of the top 3. If Badeye and Cheney are predicting something, it's a safe bet that the opposite will be true.

And this tends to happen during the terms of most two term pres's of either party. Bush was luckier in that it occured during his second term. Which probably would be construed by you as him being actually quite popular.
To the extent that "the tea party crowd" is for a smaller, constitutionally limited government - I'm with them. To the extent that they want to engage in un-Constitutional wars, I'm not.
Day after day, I have several active tea partiers in my family who absolutely cannot wait for this. And they actually seem to be gung ho Israel firsters. I keep asking them where in the constitution are the articles about fighting preemptive wars and the putting the needs of another country first.
I cannot prove this, of course, but my opinion is that Bush's popularity was skewed by 9/11. The GOPs gains in the '02 elections were certainly affected. I believe if it hadn't been for 9/11, Bush would have been a one-termer.

It's all speculation, but he certainly would have had fewer GOPers in the House and Senate. So in that regard, you're probably right. And that would have made him even LESS popular with the base.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but I suspect Pawlenty is not in the small government, follow-the-Constitution camp. Like I posted earlier, we're witnessing an attempt by the repugs to co-opt the rage represented by the tea party movement. Zero's so bad and the dims are such a failure, it's likely they'll succeed.
