Unvaccinated citizens from 50 countries will be allowed into the US from Nov. 8 despite Biden requiring virtually all other international travelers to be jabbed. People from countries where less than 10 per cent of people are vaccinated 'due to the lack of availability' will be allowed into the US without being jabbed.
However, they will still need to present proof of a negative COVID test. They would need a 'compelling reason' to come and would not be eligible for an ordinary tourist visa. The list of 50 countries has not yet been released by the White House.
Children 18 under will also get a blanket exemption from being vaccinated.
Biden announced in September he was lifting the travel ban on countries such as the UK into the US and then stipulated visitors that visitors must be vaccinated.
The approved vaccines are Pfizer BioNTech, Moderna, Janssen/Johnson & Johnson, Oxford/AstraZeneca, Sinopharm and Sinovac.
The ban had been in place since the Trump administration at the start of the pandemic.
