MUD: "I agree that the Leftist Media is wed to Clinton because of their unwavering support of him since he received the Democratic nomination in '92. However, IMHO, their blind allegiance is derived from a much deeper sense of self-preservation. I believe it's all about Power, and the Effete Elite's unimpeded access to the Powerful!! Please let me explain--I've been thinking about this for a long time!! A National Media requires National issues and National stories to maintain and attract a National audience. Until FDR's Collectivist Agenda was enacted in the late-30's, folks in Des Moines didn't really give much of a hoot about what was happenin' in Cambridge, Tampa, LA, or Washington, DC...why should they, as most of the news that affected their day-to-day lives was local? But as the National Media Moguls came into power--first thru Radio, then with TeeVee--their needs correlated closely with the desires of a growing Washington Ruling Class to come up with National Solutions to the issues that Americans had always dealt with locally, or at a State Level. World War II also played a part in this as it demonstrated the apparent effectiveness of a National Effort. For almost 60 years, the National Media and the Power-hungry proponents of an ever- growing Federal Leviathan worked in unison--the Media stirring up the fears of the Sheeple with the various "crisis-du-jours", and the Federal Guv'ment stepping in with the solution-du-jour. However, as always happens with Collectivist solutions to problems, the problems just got worse, which was just fine with the Federal Guv'ment who simply called for even more Federal programs. And the National Media continued to play along, until in 1994 when the GOP took control under the auspices of reducing the size and scope of the Federal Guv'ment...and EMPOWERING States, Localities and Individuals. This scares the Hell out of the Effete Elite Media!! If each State is responsible for their own State's performance, who's gonna wanna watch a National News Program dealing with Delaware's latest Education Initiative?! Yep, only folks from Delaware would give a rat's arse...and they can get that news from a Local TeeVee Network!! The way I see it, the National Networks NEED Big Federal Guv'ment just as much as Big Guv'ment depends on the Lame-Stream Media...and to Hell with the fact Big Guv'ment doesn't work and woe upon anyone who would try to upset their Vile Conspiracy against the bests interests of the American Sheeple!!! I've been a long-time subscriber to The Limbaugh Letter and the November 2001 issue had an excellent article called "The Rebirth of American Resolve," of which I will transcribe a short, yet poignant, excerpt... "Except for travel and mail and whatnot, life in America has pretty much returned to pre-September-11 mode. People are engaging in their daily routines, going to work or school, shopping, participating in all the usual necessary and leisure activities. But bubbling just below the surface, undetected (save for various poll numbers) and misunderstood by the national media, is something enormous. It is quiet, but angry. It is channeled and disciplined, but has the taste and feel of revenge. It is determined and focused, but passionate. There is a word for this new (to us) national character trait: resolve. American resolve is something wonderous to behold. It actually has deep roots in our history, part of the fabric of the nation's almost-lost traditions and past. Many thought we had outgrown it, or had become too sophisticated and jaded and secular and materialistic and blase to ever again express it. To my generation, the Baby Boomers, and to the two generations that followed, Gen X and Gen Y, the mention of "American resolve"--if it was mentioned- -brought to mind sepia-toned images of 40s-era war posters or grainy documentary footage of Allied soldiers in Europe. It was a long- forgotten age, the remnants of another nation altogether. "Then we were attacked." (The article goes on to explain the resultant unabashed patriotism that is much more Substance than Symbolism, and the Effete Elite's utter disdain for this raw emotional Love of Country, which the HateAmericaFirst Leftists in the Vast, LeftWing Medyuh WHORE'd and the DemocRAT Party LOATHE!!) Then, the article continued... "In fact, the elites among us continued to behave as they always had, banning the flag from workplaces, demanding that "God Bless America" be removed from signs. They were stunned at the vociferousness and vehemence of the anger that came back at them. Ordinary Americans, for the first time in my memory, decided to tell the elites to shove it. Without apology or hesitation. I have seen dozens of stories now, where some idiot stood in the way of an American's desire to express his or her love of country. In almost every instance, the idiot has backed down, shaken by the force of will that says, "We put up with your PC nonsense for years. Here's where it stops!!" Rush is Right!! America turned a corner on 9/11/01 and is in the process of leaving the HateAmericaFirst Mentality far behind!! All the work the Left has done over the last 40 years in brainwashing the American Sheeple into believing that this Great Country--this Shining City on a Hill--was fatally-flawed and fixable only if we gave ever-increasing amounts of Power and Money to the self-styled Intellectual Effete Elite, all that vile groundwork was torn asunder on 9/11/01 as America was unhappily forced to look at what Leftism wrought...HATRED, DESTRUCTION, and UTTER MORAL DEPRAVITY!!
