April 10, 2023 The backbone and principal resource of every country is the male heterosexual population. Without them there is no country, no births to take the place of deaths. Men have the temperament and strength to fight and to lead. They protect women and children, property, borders. They lead families, communities, businesses, and governments. That has always been their role throughout history. When men become effete, the society collapses. In America this indispensable resource is being destroyed. It begins with boys, which means they never become men. I remember when boys were trained for leadership. They received more discipline and were given more independence than girls, who were trained for nurture and motherhood. The roles of the sexes were as distinct as the sexes. There was no such thing as a girl who wanted to be a boy or a boy who wanted to be a girl. Transgenderism is an invention of a sick and dying society. Everything related to becoming a man has been banned. School playground fights, today an excuse to call police and arrest children, were part of growing up. Sports were where you developed confidence as you learned to catch a high fly, field a grounder, throw a strike, hit a single or a home run. Boys were encouraged. They had their own space, sandlot teams, Little League, Boy Scouts. They had after school jobs–newspaper routes, bagging groceries, cutting lawns, washing cars. Girls developed cooking skills, sewing skills, artistic skills, chaste demeanor. None of this meant that women were barred from professional lives. They were authors, Registered Nurses, accountants, para-legals, teachers, scientists, scholars. The destruction of the male began with feminism. The feminists were the first transgender advocates. They insisted on no difference in the role of men and women. It was the feminists’ insistence that the male role was better than the female’s and that women assume male roles and male sexual promiscuity, combined with their attacks on men as misogynists, that destroyed the role of men in society. All of a sudden it was not alright for boys to have their spaces. Boy Scouts had to have girls. Little league teams had to have girls. Think about this for a minute. Parents felt they had to support the girl players. Effusive praise would follow a girl catching a high fly, fielding a grounder, getting a hit. But as these are things the boys were expected to successfully do, they didn’t get the praise, and it went on from there. As “diversity” and “multiculturalism” progressed in America, it was less safe for girls to be as independent from home as boys. The equality on which feminists insisted meant that the independence of boys had to be curtailed. Today American parents who allow their male children the independence my generation had are arrested for child endangerment. The feminist desire to turn women into men meant a diminution of male leadership roles in society as women entered politics and corporations were pressured to create “gender balance” in executive roles and in academia. Just as white people are sidelined by the accusation that they hold back blacks, men are sidelined by the assertion that they held back women. Years ago Christina Hoff Sommers addressed the destruction of the male role in family and society. But nothing came of her warning. No lesson was learned. Today behavioral problems of boys, declining academic performance, depression and suicides arising from the loss of their role is falsely explained as girls having better self-control, as boys’ slower development, and attributed to alleged hormonal and neurological causes. No one notices that these blamed causes are new as are the conditions. Neither cause nor conditions were present when boys had leadership roles. The facts are bald-faced. Normal young white heterosexual males grow up in a non-merit-based society. They witness preferences for females, preferences for blacks, preferences for sexual perverts. What do the normal white men get out of it? The theft of their leadership role and blame for holding back others. Recently I heard men of the passing generation comparing women of their time with those of today. The adoption of young women of the stripper’s G-string as beach attire, the female use of four-letter words, and so on. They all agreed that the emotional support a wife gave a husband is a thing of the past. They wondered what this means for the marriages of the younger generations. Divorce which once implied failure now has no negative connotation. Are marriages becoming commitment-free? Has marriage become a temporary sexual and economic contract that once a better one is found becomes void? In my day boys were forbidden to bully girls. Today men are bullied by women. The role of men today is to get out of the way of women and preferred racial minorities. This is not a picture of a society that is succeeding. The Democratic National Committee on Tuesday announced that the party has decided to hold its 2024 national political convention in a city that has been ravaged by decades of one-party Democratic rule: Chicago. The Windy City has been run by Democratic mayors for 93 consecutive years. The 50-member City Council currently includes zero Republicans. The Cook County Board of Commissioners has 17 seats; 16 are filled by Democrats. So totalizing is the city's unipartisan political culture that recently vanquished mayoral finalist Paul Vallas, a lifelong Democrat, could not overcome the campaign criticism that he was a "Republican in disguise." So what has all this unobstructed Democratic governance produced? Population flight, for starters. From a peak of 3.6 million residents in 1950 the city has tumbled down to an estimated 2.7 million in 2021. What for a century had been the "Second City" in the United States has been #3 since the 1980s; what was the fifth-largest metropolis in the world in 1900 is now #5 just in North America. And those U-Haul trucks are leaving behind a mess. Chicago's public pensions have a larger combined total of unfunded liabilities – north of $46 billion – than 45 states. The funding shortfall, due to decades of Democratic mismanagement, has swallowed up most of the city's many tax hikes. Governments desperately short on money tend to be reckless about locating the stuff. Chicago has the second highest combined state/local sales tax (10.25 percent) of any city; Illinois has the second highest effective property tax rate (2.23 percent) of any state. (Chicago's property taxes in particular are skyrocketing.) Throw in personal income and corporate taxes, and the Prairie State ranks #1 in the country in highest effective state/local tax burden per median U.S. income. Those residents unable to flee predatory tax collectors are all too often treated like sitting ducks. "Chicago's corrupt policing system of fines, asset forfeitures, and vehicle impounds serves to extract whatever money the city can get from its poorest citizens to pay for itself," Reason's Scott Shackford wrote in 2020, linking to investigations from C.J. Ciaramella. Then there is all the murdering. Chicago's murder rate of 25.8 per 100,000 residents in 2022 (up 39 percent since 2019) was the 13th- highest among the 75 biggest cities in America (2nd-highest among the 20 most populous), and four times the national average. Police retention and morale are poor, crime-clearance rates are scandalously low, and corruption is rife. Chicago public schools, too, are notorious, driving 10 percent of the student population away in just three short years of pandemic closures. "Nearly 80% of Chicago Public Schools students cannot read at grade level," the Illinois Policy Center noted in December. "Just 15% met proficiency in math." And the politics is particularly nasty: The powerful, strike-happy Chicago Teachers Union in December 2020 asserted that "The push to reopen schools is rooted in sexism, racism, and misogyny." So basically on three of the most effective Biden-era campaign issues for the GOP – anti-family K-12 policies, rising crime, leftist capture of supposedly neutral institutions – Chicago is a living avatar. Every time a Dem calls the City of Broad Shoulders "a bastion of Democratic Party values," there will be a Republican right there, vigorously nodding. What's the logic on this facially awful idea? Democrats think the midwest will continue to be the most critical presidential battleground (Republicans will be gathering in nearby Milwaukee), and so want to be making noise nearby, in a burgh big enough to handle max capacity. National political conventions have mattered less and less to the trajectory of presidential contests over the years, which means so does their siting. (Defenders of the Chicago pick note that Democrats had a swell time there back in 1996, as opposed to the generationally defining police riot of 1968.) In the scheme of things, Joe Biden & co. choosing Chicago is likely to be a footnote. But wow, what an own-goal, as the soccer fans say. Biden, an unpopular president, and Democrats, an unlovable party, continue to have one big selling point in their favor: They are not, under any circumstances, Donald Trump. Dislike them all you want, at least they're not weary- making agents of chaos. However, putting the convention in Chicago reminds voters, particularly those independents on whom the election will again almost certainly swing, that there's more to Democratic governance than mere non- Trumpiness; Dems do actual damage. For over two hundred years, this watchdog Media has turned over many rocks, exposing the dark under-belly of American politics...UNTIL NOW!! Previously occupying the Oval Office at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, was a small petty man, heading a vast criminal conspiracy. Bill Clinton most indubitably committed multiple felonies and obstructed justice in the Monica Lewinsky matter. A morally-weak, spineless Senate was not up to the task of removing him from office, making a mockery of our Legal System as the #1 Law Enforcement Officer in the land was allowed to continue master-minding a relentless attack on The Rule of Law; however, it is clear that Clinton is "Guilty" (beyond all reasonable doubts) of multiple felonies and SHALL BE BROUGHT TO JUSTICE!! In 2003, someone leaked a “secret” Pentagon report warning of the dire consequences of climate change. “Disruption and conflict will be endemic features of life,” it reads. “Once again, warfare would define human life.” The report’s authors offer dramatic examples, including the claim that “catastrophic” shortages of potable water and energy would lead to widespread war by 2020. Britain would have winters similar to those in Siberia as European temperatures drop off radically by 2020. In 2017, there was a war in Yemen. But it wasn’t all that widespread. And Yemenis experienced water shortages, but not war due to a shortage of water. Britain underwent milder winters in 2015, and there were slightly colder winters in the five years prior. So 2020 came and went. Of course, a credulous press, eager to propagate the dire warnings, had been happy to report what turned out to be false predictions. In other words, we never did get catastrophic water shortages and permafrost in Britain. How could the authors have gotten things so wrong? To give you a better idea, let’s zoom out. Imagine we’re in a low intellectual orbit, high enough to get a wide shot but low enough to see some things. From this macro perspective, we want to evaluate a set of claims about climate change that we must connect to form a coherent theory. Let’s take some familiar premises from what we might term the Climate Collapse Thesis and view them in their totality. To accept the Climate Collapse Thesis – that climate change ought to be seen as the number one potential driver of catastrophe – we have to accept all of the following hypotheses: 1. The earth’s atmosphere and oceans are warming. 2. The earth is warming primarily due to emissions like carbon dioxide and methane, generated by people engaging in production, trade, transportation, and energy use. 3. Scientists can link the most important phenomena associated with a warming climate, and disentangle human causes from natural ones, extending into the distant past. 4. The data gathered and then aggregated by the scientists are overwhelmingly error-free, and the scientists operate free of biases when packaging and presenting their data. (This special group of scientists suffers neither from a peer-review nor a replication crisis, and they are immune to the perverse incentives of government funding.) 5. Even though individual scientists are working separately on different aspects of climatology and related fields, they can stitch these diverse aspects together into one complementary dataset, supporting a single, coherent hypothesis up to this point. 6. Scientists can then use computer models to simulate most of the phenomena associated with the earth’s warming and make reasonable predictions, within a degree or two, about a hundred years into the future. 7. A different group of scientists can repackage that packaged information and make certain predictions about the dangers that a couple of degrees of predicted warming will make over that hundred years, say to glaciers, farmland, and sea levels. 8. Social scientists, including economists, can then repackage – without loss of accuracy or the introduction of error – the aforementioned global predictions and make yet further predictions about the costs (and benefits) accompanying those predictions. Of course, the relevant subset of these portends either ecosystem collapse, social collapse, or both (and that subset is appropriate to the Climate Collapse Thesis in this context). 9. Based on what the world might be like if that different group of scientists and the social scientists turn out to be correct, policy wonks can, in turn, accurately predict what the world will be like if specific climate policies are implemented. And these policies minimize those effects the social scientists predicted. 10. Policymakers can then take the prior groups’ predictions and set policies that will mitigate the predicted warming (and subsequent collapse). Such will ensure that what’s best for the people and planet – on net – is balanced against other important considerations. 11. The policies, once imposed, will be implemented such that they work as intended. And all major emitting nations must cooperate close to global unanimity. That means there should be no defections, corruption, or false reporting by such trustworthy authorities as China’s Communist Party. 12. Abatement of greenhouse gas output has a real effect on the rate of climatic change, enough to pull the world out of danger, including climate collapse. 13. Those policies are worth the costs they impose on the world’s people, especially the poorest. I repeat: to accept the Climate Collapse Thesis, we have to accept everything above.
