Memorial Day Prayer Honoring Those Who Have Sacrificed Their Lives
Heavenly Father, I come to You in Jesus Name to ask You to direct my thinking to honor those in the military who have paid the ultimate price of giving their life for the many years of freedom our nation has enjoyed. Fighting so that others can go on living and enjoying freedom requires service and self-sacrifice. Thank you that over the years, and still today, many in the military have followed the example of Jesus. John 15:12-13 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down ones life for his friends.
I ask that You forgive us as a nation and turn us to repentance for the many who are degrading Your Son Jesus, the military, and those You have appointed to protect us from harm. As You did in the past, we need You to lead us into revival and a great awakening.
Give us as believers in Jesus Christ a desire to follow the instructions You gave in 1 Timothy 2:1-3 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior.
Give healing, comfort, and peace to those who have been injured and to those who have lost loved ones as they recover from the devastations of war and terrorism. I also want to honor the memory of those who have been martyred for their faith in Jesus Christ. The Cross is very offensive to many around the world. Therefore, many are being killed simply for loving Jesus Christ for what He did on the Cross.
I thank You for the wonderful memories of loved ones who have passed on, and had a great influence on my life. To God be the glory.
