Chinese President Xi Jinping greatly impressed President Joe Biden in their two-hour telephone conversation this week. That’s not entirely a good thing. Biden, briefing reporters on the Wednesday call, said, “Last night, I was on the phone for two straight hours with Xi Jinping. They’re investing billions of dollars in dealing with a whole range of issues that deal with transportation, the environment, and a whole range of other things. So, we just have to step up.” He added, “We don’t get moving, they’re going to eat our lunch.”
