And looking forward to fulfilling my desire to service our great nation in the Air Corps. A desire I fulfilled while serving in 12 different ranks and 10 different pay grades. I wore a military uniform to serve our country. As an enlisted man, I was one rank below the highest enlisted grade. And as an officer, I was two ranks below general. During my 24 years of military service, I witnessed people of different backgrounds learn teamwork and discipline so they could rise to all challenges. I have also seen firsthand and participated in community-based nonprofits which showed that you don’t have to wear a military uniform to serve your country. Our Founding Fathers believed that the “pursuit of happiness” was not just an individual right, but also a collective undertaking. It is in this regard – I say that you need not wear a military uniform to serve our country. I therefore ask what have you done to serve our country – and more importantly, what are you doing now? Fatalism tends to be associated with a negative, pessimistic, passive outlook. In other words, being fatalistic means having feelings of powerlessness or hopelessness about life. Adopting a fatalistic attitude can have negative consequences such as undermining personal responsibility, difficulty in making choices, and procrastination.
