And looking forward to fulfilling my desire to service our great nation in the Air Corps. A desire I fulfilled while serving in 12 different ranks and 10 different pay grades. I wore a military uniform to serve our country. As an enlisted man, I was one rank below the highest enlisted grade. And as an officer, I was two ranks below general. During my 24 years of military service, I witnessed people of different backgrounds learn teamwork and discipline so they could rise to all challenges. I have also seen firsthand and participated in community-based nonprofits which showed that you don’t have to wear a military uniform to serve your country. Our Founding Fathers believed that the “pursuit of happiness” was not just an individual right, but also a collective undertaking. It is in this regard – I say that you need not wear a military uniform to serve our country. I therefore ask what have you done to serve our country – and more importantly, what are you doing now? For I have long learned that foolish conspiracy theories will continue to swirl around us like some noxious germs, only to target the mind instead of the body – if we let them. Our immune system can easily leave us vulnerable to pathogens in the same way that our emotional state can make us more open to false — and sometimes dangerously harmful — conspiracy beliefs. There are ways we can take to protect ourselves from these conspiracy ideas. I don’t allow myself to become overwhelmed with spiraling hypothetical thoughts.
