United States News Title: Parson Goat Regrets Even If He Doesn’t Yet Repent Mr. Anonymous has been working on and praying for his Parson Goat. He reports: Miracles happen. I received a call from my Pastor today. He said that he would like my input on what I think about his stance on the masks and social distancing in our church. Prayer works. I specifically told him that I would not be back while a requirement for masks was mandated. I told him it was not appropriate to require things that the Word did not and that in my lifetime we had gone through issues like this many times. … He listened. At the end of the conversation I specifically asked him on what information he was relying to determine the effectiveness of a mask at keeping the SARS-COV2 virus from spreading. He could not cite a specific article. I asked if he would receive from me articles on the non-effectiveness of masks. He said he would. Mr. A then wrote his Parson: Thank you for your call today. I appreciate it very much. As my Pastor and my Deacon, you are a very important person in my life. …in your presentation on wearing masks and social distancing … given to the Deacons and Administration Committee May 20, 2020, you mentioned that in our service … we must wear masks and socially distance as a way to serve one another. You mentioned it as a sacrifice that was necessary to slow the spread of the SARS-COV2 virus. It is my opinion that mandating what a person wears to enter their church is a constraint on their conscience. It is my opinion that mandated or required service is not service at all. Service is not mandated, it is volunteered. Slavery is mandated. Over the years I have seen division brought into the Lord’s house by well-meaning people. I know some had good intentions when they said that women should have their heads covered in church. Others preached about make-up. Some railed against long hair on teenagers. Some derided rock and roll music. Some talked about tattoos. When a pastor adds requirements for dress or behavior that is not expressly in the Bible but is culturally derived, I believe he does himself and his congregation and the Lord an extreme disservice. I will not be your or anyone’s slave. I am a free man, bought with a price, with no King but King Jesus. Also, I will not make a sacrifice as required by you or anyone else. Forced sacrifice is not a sacrifice but is extortion. I will sacrifice only for God. I serve and I sacrifice when the Holy Spirit in me says to serve and to sacrifice. You and the State can try, but you cannot constrain me to obey. … Thank you for your time in reading this letter. PS If I am correct, I recall that you stated you majored in History in college. I encourage you to ask the Lord to show you the truth about the Black Robed Regiment. They were critically important in the Revolutionary Era.
