When a political poll was released in December, announcing to the world "44% of Americans would prefer George W. Bush to Barack Obama" I smiled and understood the reasoning. Two months later, we now have Americans in Minnesota (of all places) purchasing billboard space to profess their political desire for President Bush.

I have missed President Bush for twelve months. It started with his flight to Crawford, Obama's decision to close down Gitmo (how's that working out), progressed with the well known Somali Pirates skirmish, Obama ignoring his Generals for months on Afghanistan and the failed terrorist attack on American soil in December. Not to mention, the fact President Bush met with wounded soldiers at Fort Hood before the current President did, made me feel proud and pissed off at the same time.

Is President Bush missed? Yes, without a doubt.

Don't worry, you're gonna get your 'wish'. And choke on it. I'm not a big fan of Bush, his second term was defined by playing 'not to lose' and then shear insanity related to the bailouts. That said, the real unemployment rate is approximately 20%, and nothing this President or Congress has done will alleviate it. Record foreclosures, record deficts both domestic and in trade, rising crime rates (due to excessive unemployment) even more taxes, with more on the way, and a world that simply doesn't care WHO the President of the United States is - name one thing thats changed under Owe-Bama on that score compared to Bush - and it is what it is.

A failed Presidency in the making, and a blow out in the coming mid term election cycle.

and in trade

That's just plain wrong...the record trade deficit was reached in May of 2006.

even more taxes

Taxes go up in Ohio did they? They haven't gone up at the Federal level and, in fact, were cut for most people last year.

Obama broke his campaign promise when he raised taxes on cigarettes. Disproportionately affecting the poor. So you are incorrect. I believe he raised other taxes too. No I don't smoke cigarettes.

Obama Tax Plan

Under the Obama Plan:

Middle class families will see their taxes cut – and no family making less than $250,000 will see their taxes increase. The typical middle class family will receive well over $1,000 in tax relief under the Obama plan, and will pay tax rates that are 20% lower than they faced under President Reagan. According to the Tax Policy Center, the Obama plan provides three times as much tax relief for middle class families as the McCain plan.

That would mean that everything you say is pure BS.

He was right on about predicting the recession and its origination in certain financial instruments. And almost all on TOS except Judge Parker and McGowanjm were arguing the opposite. What were you predicting in 2007?

I saw the clip and think it is fairly ambiguous. But I would never read cigarette taxes into it, because those don't apply to all taxpayers and are more like use taxes. Sort of like the kind the Pubbies like to employ.

The video makes my point. Obama is a liar.

Your link proves he is a liar because in the video he said something else. He says a bunch of stuff and it is mostly lies.

Just yesterday he got on and talked about bipartisanship. He said it takes both parties to compromise. He looked pretty good saying that. At least if you are an idiot and haven't been paying attention that his party was trying to cram communist healthcare down our throats. The guy just isn't honest.

All referencing various forms of income taxes. I linked you to his income tax plan. During his campaign, he pledged to pass SCHIP which, IIRC, always had a cigarette tax attached to it.

I agree with Thomas Jefferson. Congress shouldn't be allowed to spend beyond their term. He had a couple of exceptions but not many.

Words have meanings and apparently you don't comprehend them.

Their meanings are always a slave to context. Fees, excise taxes etc etc etc go up every year...some automatcailly, some to pay for specific programs. It's pretty disingenuous to call me a liar because of the context in which I choose to interpret what he is saying...a context that is not unreasonable, btw...

Jefferson's view was actually even more restrictive that the act of one legislature is not passable on to the next one. Imagine the issues that would cause? Jefferson, as much as I admire him to the point of him being my personal favorite, had some pretty off the wall ideas...one of them, by the way, was a half penny tax to fund a system of public schools...what a whacko, eh? {;*D

Mistaken about what? I don't see the fact that he campaigned on an income tax plan that was implimented and a health care plan of which SCHIP was a part [which is WHY the cigarette tax was raised] as being inherently contradictory. Ronald Reagan cut taxes and turned around and raised fees and excise taxes and he is viewed as the Base Line for all tax cutters.

That politicians are liars is no revelation to me either. This discusssion is hair splitting to that end tho...when Clinton reneged on his middle class tax cut, that was a lie. Having two distinct issues here, income taxes and SCHIP, don't rise or, rather, fall, to that level.
