Easy To Buy, Hard To Sell takes an interesting departure from Bonamassa's revered repertoire, with the intent of honoring Danny Gatton, one of his most influential mentors, as well as covering instrumental versions of some of his favorites from Frank Sinatra, Danny Gatton, Tony Joe White, King Curtis and more. Bonamassa expresses his excitement on the project
To be honest I have always wanted to do a record like this. But, to be even more honest I'm not sure I was ready both professionally and musically, until now. The time finally felt right to finally pay tribute to a mentor, a friend and one of the greatest guitarists of all time: the late great Danny Gatton. My time hanging out and jamming with Danny as a child shaped my playing and musical pathway more than just about anyone.
Largely comprised of Joe's touring band, the Sleep Eazys includes Late Night with David Letterman's Anton Fig (percussion), Musician's Hall of Famer Michael Rhodes (bass), Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Reese Wynans (keyboards), Lee Thornburg (trumpet), Paulie Cerra (saxophone), along with Jade MacRae and Juanita Tippins on background vocals, and of course, Bonamassa on guitar. Accompanying the stellar and tight-knit cast are Jimmy Hall on harmonica and esteemed multi-instrumentalist John Jorgenson.

This Tony Joe White cover wasn't what I expected, but wow - I like this.
"Move", the second song on the album is a jazzy, retro 50's style upbeat number..nice Hammond organ too. Then a Django Reinhardt-style guitar solo.
Overall the best song on the album IMO.
"Ha So" is pretty cool. starts off with a Chinese music riff, then goes into a "Walk Don't Run" chord progression...seriously.
Some old school C/W guitar at 1:44...sounds like a Pete Anderson solo from a Dwight Yoakam song.
Not a fan of the James Bond song.
"Ace of Spades". Pretty tepid performance of the Link Wray song...Bonamassa's version is too overproduced and slick.
Government is in the last resort the employment of armed men, of policemen, gendarmes, soldiers, prison guards, and hangmen. The essential feature of government is the enforcement of its decrees by beating, killing, and imprisoning. Those who are asking for more government interference are asking ultimately for more compulsion and less freedom.
I read your whole post, and can't find a single thing to disagree with.
In the entire history of the world, the only nations that had to build walls to keep their own citizens from leaving were those with leftist governments.
"Polk Salad Annie" wasn't an updated version of the 1969 classic that I remember, but I enjoyed the music nonetheless. But Bonamassa's scant lyrics stirred some dusty old cobwebs just the same:
BTW, I just changed the link to "1969 classic" from a version that was actually the "original" to a version that was still recorded way back then to a version Tony Joe White sang as a duet with Johnny Cash... I hope y'all enjoy it as much as I did...

That was a damn cool duet! Thanks.
On another note, every version Elvis ever did of PSA is crap.
