A spokesman for the service said Saturday that "personal payments" to and from India are being blocked. Transfers to banks in India are being suspended as well. The spokesman, Anuj Nayar, said PayPal is taking the step while it answers questions that have arisen about the service. He declined to elaborate. Nayar said the suspensions began Jan. 28. He wrote in a blog post that PayPal, which is owned by eBay Inc., hopes "to resolve the situation as quickly as possible." To: 3-Dee (#1) The people of India have many ways that differ from your system. I am thinking they are trying to move their informal money transfer system from the traditional system based on reputation and trust and base it on this new gizmo known far and wide as paypal. Of course Paypal wants none of this as they suspect it will involve them in laundering drug money, the treacherous yet very profitable curry trade and some dastardly poached ivory scheme. I myself could use a bit of poached ivory. My piano keys are looking worn.
