Last September, after an oil field was bombed in Saudi Arabia, President Donald Trump tweeted that we are waiting to hear from the Kingdom to find out under what terms we would proceed to send them our military assets. The president of the United States admitted that he was waiting on orders to be handed down from a theocratic dictatorship in Saudi Arabia on how to use the men and women in the US armed forces. Naturally, this prompted backlash from all sides, and for good reason. Saudi Arabia is the largest state sponsor of terrorism in the world and they were behind the largest terror attack ever carried out on American soil, 9/11.
Despite knowing that the Saudis aided and funded the terrorists who flew planes into two world trade center towers that fateful day back in 2001, presidents George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Donald Trump have bowed down to the dictatorial regime, quite literally. The support the United States establishment pledges to the terrorist dictatorship in Saudi Arabia is an insult to every single person who has served, is serving in the armed forces, the families of victims who lost their lives during the worst attack on US soil in the 21st century, and every free-thinking American in general.
As if Trump courting the Saudis and pledging them our Troops was not bad enough, this week, Trump reneged on his promise to release information to the 9/11 victims families to support their lawsuit against Saudi Arabia for their role in the attacks. This decision comes only months after President Trump promised to open FBI files to help families of the 9/11 victims in their civil lawsuit against the Saudi government.
He looked us in the eye on 9/11, he shook our hands in the White House and said, Im going to help you its done, recalled one of those present, Brett Eagleson, a banker whose father was killed in the World Trade Center, according to ProPublica. I think the 9/11 families have lost all hope that the president is going to step up and do the right thing. Hes too beholden to the Saudis.
Unfortunately, Eagleson is correct.
But we can take solace in Trumps broken promises, however, because aiding the Saudis while kicking the victims families in the teeth is being done in the best security interests of America.
As the Independent reports, in New York federal court filings this week, US Attorney General William Barr and intelligence director Richard Grenell invoked unprecedented claims that the documents remain state secrets, which must be locked down to protect the national security interests of the US government, despite the presidents pledge to help families in the case.
The filings suggest that exposing Saudi ties to the attacks could pose exceptionally grave damage to national security, the administration said, though the contents of those documents remain a mystery.
Grennell wrote that the documents contain highly sensitive and classified national security information concerning foreign government information, intelligence activities, sources and methods, and information concerning foreign relations and foreign activities of the United States, including confidential sources all of which must be protected because its disclosure reasonably could be expected to cause serious damage to the US, he said.
Attorney General Barr told the court that even public discussion of and justification for the documents secrecy must also be kept secret, arguing that a discussion would reveal information that could cause the very harms my assertion of the state secrets privilege is intended to prevent.
In other words, the ones most affected by the attacks on 9/11 must suck it up and wage their lawsuit without the aid to the United States government so America can keep in good standings with a terrorist country whose role in 9/11 continues to be revealed in larger and larger scope. Seems legit.
The extraordinary lengths that theyre going to here suggest that there must be some deep, dark secret that theyre still trying very hard to hide after almost 20 years, said a lawyer for the families, Steven Pounian. But who are they protecting? Something might be a Saudi government secret. But how can these be secrets that still need to be kept from the American people after all this time?
As TFTP reported at the time, the lawsuit against Saudi Arabia came in 2017, when for the first time since that fateful September morning, families of victims of the 9/11 terror attacks used a new law to go after Saudi Arabia in lawsuits for their role in the attacks. This was after a long battle with the Obama regime and their repeated attempts to unsuccessfully stifle the suit.
After evidence was revealed during the lawsuit showing the Saudi Arabian embassy in Washington may have funded a dry run for the hijackings carried out by two Saudi employees, Saudi Arabia went into panic mode. In response, Saudi Arabia quickly attempted to use their pull inside the United States to have the lawsuits thrown out. However, that attempt failed.
In 2018 Reuters reported that U.S. District Judge George Daniels in Manhattan said the plaintiffs allegations narrowly articulate a reasonable basis for him to assert jurisdiction over Saudi Arabia under the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act (JASTA), a 2016 federal law.
For a decade and a half, Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush kept secret the alleged role Saudi Arabia played in the September 11 attacks on America. Because of the cozy relationship the US has with the terrorist nationwhich Trump is complicit in maintainingspecial interests within the government have chosen to protect their Saudi friends instead of telling Americans the truth about what happened that tragic day.
For those who remember, Donald Trump himself used to tell people at his rallies that the Saudis were behind 9/11a habit he quickly abandoned once he got into office. Just like Obama, Trump has chosen to protect the perpetrators instead of going after them.
While speaking with supporters at a campaign event in Bluffton, South Carolina in 2016, then-Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump said if he is elected you will find out who really knocked down the World Trade Center.
It wasnt the Iraqis, Trump said.
You may find its the Saudis.
Trump was referencing the fact 15 out of the 19 hijackers were from Saudi Arabia. He also somehow had knowledge of what was in the 28 pages that would be declassified a few months later in July.
Trump went on to say the government has papers that are very secret which may implicate the Saudis, perhaps referencing the report discussed above.
You will find out, Trump said.
Before he was elected, Americans did find out that the 28 pages proved the United States government knew the Saudi Arabian government had a hand in and supported the terrorists who carried out the attacks on 9/11 and covered it up.
Fast forward to 2020 Trump and his view on Saudi Arabia has changed drastically. Now, just like Obama, hes BFFs with the terrorist regime, responsible for the deaths of 2,369 Americans.
This is the state of politics in the land of the free.
