Virginia pastor who defiantly held
church service dies of coronavirus

He practiced what he preached — then he died of coronavirus.

An evangelical pastor died of COVID-19 just weeks after proudly showing off how packed his Virginia church was — and vowing to keep preaching “unless I’m in jail or the hospital.”

In his last known in-person service on March 22, Bishop Gerald O. Glenn got his congregation at Richmond’s New Deliverance Evangelistic Church to stand to prove how many were there despite warnings against gatherings of more than 10 people.

“I firmly believe that God is larger than this dreaded virus. You can quote me on that,” he said, repeating it a second time to claps, saying that “people are healed” in his church.

Happily announcing he was being “controversial” by being “in violation” of safety protocols — with “way more than 10 people” at the church — he vowed to keep his church open “unless I’m in jail or the hospital.”

“I am essential,” he said of remaining open, adding, “I’m a preacher — I talk to God!”

On Sunday, his church announced “with an exceedingly sorrowful and heavy heart” that the pastor had died a week after being diagnosed with COVID-19.

His wife, Marcietia Glenn, is also sick with the bug, with church members offering their prayers.

Their daughter, Mar-Gerie Crawley, told WTVR that her father initially dismissed his symptoms because he has a condition that often leads to fevers and infections.

She is now urging everyone to stay home.

“It becomes very real to you,” she told WTVR after her parents’ diagnoses.

“I just beg people to understand the severity and the seriousness of this, because people are saying it’s not just about us, it’s about everyone around us.”

Death joke culture. Are you a dumb ass? Nevermind. Dumb ass it is not a joke. People die every day in automobile accidents. If you were consistent, which you are not. You would be in favor of banning cars. Such a petal.

People die every day in automobile accidents.

Yes they do.

However, that has absolutely nothing to do with the death of evangelical pastor Gerald Glenn.

He died of coronavirus “just weeks after proudly showing off how packed his Virginia church was — and vowing to keep preaching “unless I’m in jail or the hospital.”

He forgot to add: “Unless I die from coronavirus” …

Oh, I see now – The article here in about pastor Gerald Glenn dying from coronavirus.

You are trying to shift the discussion away from that.

Why?

So you are bringing in automobile deaths to cover this tragedy.

Does a pastor die every day from coronavirus?

Rationalize much?

pastor die in Walker County car wreck

Did that pastor mingle with people in a packed church while he was asymptomatic with coronavirus and pass it to others thereby likely sentencing them to their deaths?

Any number of pastors dying in a car wreck does not excuse or justify one pastor with coronavirus sentencing other to die by closely associating with them in a packed church …

Jim Jones took 909 souls with him.

We shall never know many this pastor may take with him …

People who appeal to belief against logic, who revel in irrationality, are unteachable. Nothing anyone says to them about their belief can cause them to ponder, to reflect, to think again—which is what being teachable means. People who appeal to belief against logic, who revel in irrationality, also give Christianity a bad name—making it appear unintelligible to inquiring minds. “Check your mind at the door” (of the church or Christian school) is the message. To be a Christian you must sacrifice your intellect is the message. This is the problem of irrational, unteachable Christians.

Why do they have this problem?

Stone - don't ban this clown Gatlin. He's an arrogant ass but he's hilarious - just a harmless old coot.

We should overlook his crankiness, after all he's just some lonely old man who can't function in a normal society.

He's probably a prick in real life too so cut the SOB some slack.

Government is in the last resort the employment of armed men, of policemen, gendarmes, soldiers, prison guards, and hangmen.
The essential feature of government is the enforcement of its decrees by beating, killing, and imprisoning.
Those who are asking for more government interference are asking ultimately for more compulsion and less freedom.

A pastor died from coronavirus

Not necessarily.

The pastor "initially dismissed his symptoms because he has a condition that often leads to fevers and infections".

He had an unknown and rather severe underlying condition that no one seems to be addressing.

Even if his death was caused by an underlying condition, it will still be considered a coronavirus death.
