Bush Wars Title: How Powerful is George W Bush? I listen to progressive talk radio while driving, instead of texting. I was stunned to hear George Bush (W) getting blamed for the recent Toyota crisis. The reasoning was that W orchestrated massive corporate deregulation during his presidency. This is only one example of the incredible reach of this seemingly simple man. Hardly a speech goes by that Obama does not mention what he inherited from W. After Obamas first stimulus package he said the plan would keep unemployment from going above 8%. Now that its way over that mark, we are told that Ws impact was more powerful than anyone could imagine. W is the devil in the details of the global economic crisis. His policies of deregulation and support of big corporations led to the downfall. Even Obamas pay czar has failed to stop Ws buddies from getting those big bonuses. In the State of the Union address, Obama should have summed up the national situation with these words, the power of W is just too great. Some progressives still say W was behind 9/11. He needed that event to start a war with Iraq so he could make money off the oil. He and Cheney outsmarted congress, the UN, and most of America with their lies and secret plans. W skillfully acted like a dummy, but had the mind of an evil genius. Hurricane Katrina revealed Ws racism. Everyone knows how quick and effective the federal government is at disaster relief. W managed to delay the response so that more African-Americans could die. Im sure that as Haiti is cleaned up the truth will come out about his reach into that tiny island. Hitler is a mouse compared to W. Only history will tell just how powerful W is. Who knows just how many millions of peoples lives have been destroyed just so W can prosper? How many countries financial systems have been ransacked and nearly crushed all for his personal gain. W has an obvious control of the legal system. The Supreme Court stole the 2000 election from Al Gore and gave it to W. He walks about as a free man today in spite of all the laws he broke while in office. Most progressives would like to see him in jail. I could go on, but I am sick of all the talk of W. I am a conservative who voted for W, but feel he is among the weakest presidents ever. He had a republican congress for his first term and a democrat in the second. He never vetoed a bill from either group. He was a progressive republican. While president he doubled money to education and even stood with Ted Kennedy with the No Child Left Behind fiasco. He sent more money to Africa to fight AIDS than any other president. He expanded the progressives dream program Medicare, with the prescription drug entitlement. Government spending increased ever year of his presidency. I dont believe much would have changed in history if Al Gore had won the 2000 election. 9/11 would have happened and the US would have attacked Al Qaeda in Afghanistan. Saddam Hussein was a huge world threat and Gore may have even lead us into the Iraq war on the advice of the military. The economy would have also been the same, regardless the occupant at the White House. The bad credit behavior of the banks, the government, and all of us had a role in the economic meltdown. We are simply going through a needed correction. Its time for Obama to take charge and be responsible for his actions. His budget proposal of $3.8 trillion puts us another trillion+ in debt. His first budget would have been a good place to start changing, but it looks like business as usual. He failed to get the world governments to agree on climate change policy at Copenhagen. With a super majority in congress he could not get healthcare done. The list goes on and progressives need to take note. The problem is no longer W, but O.
