Title: Colin Powell Has Completely Devolved Into His Inherent Leftist Personna -- He Now Supports Faggots Getting It On In The Armed Forces

Colin Powell, who as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in the 1990s led the opposition to letting gays serve openly in the military, said today he had changed his mind.

"In the almost 17 years since the 'don't ask, don't tell' legislation was passed, attitudes and circumstances have changed," the former secretary of state said in a statement. "I fully support the new approach presented to the Senate Armed Services Committee this week by Secretary of Defense (Robert) Gates and Admiral (Michael) Mullen."

Powell has been saying for two years that he thought the policy, which was devised as a compromise in 1993 after President Bill Clinton initially proposed lifting the military's long-standing ban on gays, should be reviewed. But today's statement was his first unequivocal endorsement of dropping the policy that allows gays and lesbians to serve only if they stay quiet about their sexual orientation.

The turnaround is certain to add more momentum to President Barack Obama's plan to repeal the policy. It comes a day after Mullen, Powell's successor as chairman, and Gates told a Senate hearing that it was only a matter of when, not if, the policy would be repealed.

"General Powell has made clear that his position is about effectiveness in the military," Human Rights Campaign President Joe Solmonese said. "His powerful voice for ending 'don't ask, don't tell' is a tipping point in favor of the brave men and women who are serving our nation in silence."

Referring to Sen. John McCain of Arizona and other Republicans who still support the policy, Solmonese said: "I want to ask the senators and members who are speaking out against this repeal: What do you know about military effectiveness that General Powell, Secretary Gates, Admiral Mullen and the commander in chief don't know?

"The truth is that there are no more excuses. The death knell for 'don't ask, don't tell' has been rung, and now is the moment to send this law into the history books where it belongs," he said.

You do realize that conservative icon Barry Goldwater supported gays in the military and that gays serve openly in the IDF, an organization thay you LPers feel is infallible.

Gays inthe military isn't a problem. Worked with gays when I served, it was no big deal at all. The fact is 'Don't ask, don't tell' works quite well. If you don't ask, you dont tell, there is no issue at all.

Its getting uglier out there...

After he became senile

gays serve openly in the IDF

Not without problem. And openly is an exaggeration as the great majority of the fudgepackers and carpet chewers know to keep their mouths shut about their perversions.

1. So he was senile the last 20 years of his life?

2. Wrong. Gay partners are even entitled to survivor benefits.

I remember having this talk with several senior NCO's when I was in the army in the mid-60's,and the general consensus seemed to be "Let them serve in support units where there is no danger of them having a combat command. Once they can serve openly there is no longer any danger of them being blackmailed to commit treason or other crimes."

They should NEVER be allowed to command a combat unit, though. For the same reasons that males shouldn't,and aren't,allowed to command females in combat units.

The problem is the "give them a inch and they will take a mile" slippery slope thing. Just like women are screaming it is "unfair" to not allow women to have combat commands because it limits the number of women who will be promoted to General Officer states, the homos will be screaming the same thing.

The US military wasn't conceived and doesn't exist to be "fair" or to be the vehicle for social experimentation. It exists purely to defend the country.

I didn't. But I wasn't in a combat unit, as you know, I was a radioman in the rear with the gear.

Goldwater died in 1998 at the age of 89. He didn't come out with his fag crap until the 90s (along with a lot of other bizzare ideas).

So should fags be given special housing? Partner benefits? We don't need this shit in the US miliatry. If a guy wants tube sausage up his ass and to serve in the miltary, he needs to keep his mouth shut about it.

Say WHAT?

How the HELL can that be,when the heterosexual partner of a service member that dies while in uniform doesn't get these same benefits?

Do we now have one more "special class" of citizen?

They definitely get special benefits in the IDF, such as the right to private showers. But then again there, military service is mandatory there, and they need everybody they can get. Many choose to keep their mouths shut anyway.

We don't need this crap here.

Did you have any 'problem' with gays when you served?

No. There were one or two that I suspected were homosexual that seemed to be interested in getting a little too friendly with me,but I made it REAL plain that wasn't going to happen,so the problem went away.

The discussion I talked about happened because there was a senior Warrant Officer in the 3rd SFG that was booted out of the army because they discovered he was a homo because of something that happened off-base and had nothing to do with the army. We all knew this guy,and some of them had known him for several years. He was a good W.O. and knew his job well and was dependable.

The truth is the army had no choice but to boot him out back then because he worked in signals and had a top secret clearance and a LOT of experience working with classified codes and equipment, and this made him a prime target for blackmail. Which is why the basic conclusion seemed to be "let them serve openly and remove the risk of blackmail. He doesn't lead troops so there would be no problem there. He gets to stay in and the army doesn't lose a experienced technicial. Win/win for everybody."

As I said above, there were a couple of NCO's that I SUSPECTED of being homos that I met in line units, but they weren't pushy and kept their "business" off-base or lowkey,so I didn't really care. Neither did anybody else that knew them that I asked. They were suspicious too,but really didn't care.

Hell, the first one I was suspicious of was a cadre at jump school who complimented me on my "package" while checking my parachute straps.

Is that really a special benefit to them,or something demanded by the heterosexual soldiers who don't want to shower with them?

Yep...and the rules against fraternization apply equally regarding homosexual liasions and those of the heterosexual variety. What the RadicalGayLobby is doing here is to make a soldier's sexuality a primary focus, when it really has nothing to do with how a person spends their off-hours...MUD

No need to apologize for something you didn't do.

Unless of course you think the US Army is the Israeli Defense Force?
