Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., stated on Monday that the Democratic Party is a "center or center-conservative" party and how there currently isn't a "left" party in the United States. Speaking at an event commemorating Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Ocasio-Cortez knocked her own party for not being progressive enough. "We don't have a left party in the United States. The Democratic Party is not a left party," the freshman congresswoman began, which sparked applause from the audience. "The Democratic Party is a center or a center-conservative party.” She continued, "We can't even get a floor vote on Medicare-for-all -- not even a floor voted that gets voted down. We can't even get a vote on it. So this is not a left party. There are left members inside the Democratic Party that are working to try to make that shift happen." The Democratic "Squad" member also compared Monday's gun rights protest in Richmond, Va., to the protests that followed the deaths of Freddie Gray and Eric Garner and questioned what she thought was the lack of police presence at the commonwealth's capital. "There's this gun rights protest that's going on in Richmond ... on MLK Day, but here's the image that has [stuck] with me the most about that is that when we go out and march for the dignity and the recognition of the lives of people like Freddie Gray and Eric Garner," Ocasio-Cortez explained, "the whole place is surrounded by police in riot gear without a gun in sight. And here are all of these people flying Confederate flags with semiautomatic weapons and there's almost no police officers at that protest." She then asked, "So who or what are our institutions protecting from who? And that image conveys it all, conveys it all."
Poster Comment: No police;, stupid, because America's gun owners are a law-abiding group who react only when a gun-crazed lunatic whips out his illegally obtained firearm and begins whacking innocents. Keep standing there and you may meet a gun-crazed lunatic. Or maybe not. They usually charge into 'gun free' zones.

So she admits that a floor vote would get voted down, yet she wants one. Pure politics. Actually accomplish something bipartisan in the House? Not interested.

That commie tip-stealing barmaid sure is dumb. It'd be hilarious to see her crushed in November or gerrymandered out of a district. IIRC, three of the four Squaws are under criminal investigation for campaign, tax, immigration and/or marriage fraud. Nice going, democRats.
She's right. What she said here is all accurate. What she WANTS doesn't suit me, but what she has stated here is the way it is.
Back to the good old days when you had to be a property owner in order to vote on anything. Another requisite I'd add would be an IQ test. What this nation needs is a six year term for president with a two term limit. For senators, go back to 1914 when the complete state legislatures picked their senators for a four year term. Incidentally, the cost of maintaining a senator or congressman would be borne by the state they represent. Campaigning could only begin within six months of election day and a minimum of campaign money could be spent. Lobbyists would be banned!
