Gov. Ralph Northam confirms Virginia already 'working on' gun confiscation now that Democrats are in control

Elections do, indeed, have consequences.

Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam (R) of blackface fame boasted this week that his party is ready to implement an array of gun control measures in the commonwealth now that Democrats control all three branches of government, and his administration is already "working on" a plan for confiscating so-called "assault weapons" from law-abiding gun owners.

The Washington Post reported Wednesday that Northam wants to bring back eight "common-sense" gun control measures that Republicans shot down during a special session in July, prioritizing "universal background checks, banning the sale of assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, restoring the law that limits purchases to one gun a month, and a red flag law that would empower a court to temporarily remove a gun from a person deemed to be a risk to himself or others."

When asked directly about whether he is supportive of confiscating "assault weapons from gun owners" Northam replied, "That's something I'm working [on] with our secretary of public safety. I'll work with the gun violence activists, and we'll work [on] that. I don't have a definitely plan today."

On Tuesday, Virginia voters handed Democrats total control of the commonwealth's General Assembly — flipping both the Senate and the House of Delegates from red to blue majorities. The Democratic Party now controls not only Virginia's legislature, but holds the governorship, lieutenant governorship, attorney general, and both U.S. Senate seats.

Northam believes the results from Tuesday's election shows Virginia is now a solid Democratic stronghold. When a reporter referred to the commonwealth as "a pretty purple state" during a cabinet meeting Wednesday, the governor pushed back, according to The Post.

"The is a blue state," Northam said. "I made that announcement last night...So Virginia's blue. I want everybody to know that."

Anything else? CNBC reported that Everytown for Gun Safety — a gun control-advocacy group largely bankrolled by billionaire Michael Bloomberg — "spent $2.5 million this year to influence voters in Virginia versus approximately $300,000 by the NRA, which has its headquarters in Fairfax, Virginia."

Well, it sounds like things may get " sporty " in ol Virginia !!!

History shows that when the Commiecrats gain power, they will us it to the max !!

Gun owners in Virginia are going to get squeezed hard !

This will not end well !!!

True. Gun policy was the #1 issue in this election -- surpassing education, health care, the economy and immigration.

However, 47% of those who said this was #1 voted Democrat and 44% voted Republican. Meaning the voters were split on this issue.

The article gives the impression that if gun "policy" is a concern, that means you favor gun "control".

Which is why they win. History shows that when Republicans get power, they push through those specific things that most favor the wealthy, and then go limp and welch on EVERYTHING ELSE (like pro-life issues, immigration, etc.)

They behave the same way over and over, both parties.

Democrats campaign on things, and when they get power, they ruthlessly push forward to do those things.

Republicans campaign on sound bites to keep together a coalition of pro-life religious folks, guns rights adovcates, immigration-control folks, and pro- business/pro-wealthy policies.

When their coalition gives them power, they first enact the pro-wealthy stuff, and then they never do any of the rest of it, and blame their lack of action on "the Democrats".

And like Charlie Brown, the Republican voters never catch on that Lucy moves the football every time.

Democrats are more honest than Republicans. They say what they are going to do - and it's often unwise or bad - and when they get power, they DO IT.

Republicans only ever pass tax cuts for the rich and deregulation for business. Everything else they say is an idle promise to get the votes of people to whom Republicans will actually give nothing.

Essentially, Democrats in office are active - often radioactive - elements who will push for their platform. Republicans are simply inert placeholders who will never push very hard to reverse what Democrats do, except on the narrow sphere of what is economically beneficial to the top 5%.

Before the Commiecrats piss in the Cheerios, they should deeply, and thoroughly ponder " Unintended Consequences "
