New fundraising numbers have been posted by the Democrat primary candidates and they show some interesting shifts in the field.
Decrepit and bedridden Bernie Sanders led the pack with $25.3 million. Enough to buy a nice mausoleum. Elizabeth Warren was second with $24.6 million. Pete Buttigieg raised $19.1 million. Joe Biden pulled in $15.2 million. Kamala Harris finished the Third Quarter with $11.6 million.
Yahoo Finance has the cute graphic:
If you ignore the silliness of Yang and Williamson, the real story is that Joe Biden is in a death spiral. His fundraising is down by 30%. Hes slipping in the polls, especially Iowa and New Hampshire. His South Carolina firewall looks very flimsy. The news swirling around about Hunter Bidens financial shenanigans is not going to get better and you can bet President Trump is not going to let up so long as the Ukraine phone call bullsh** is being propped up as grounds for impeachment. Beyond that, Bidens campaign staff is as sclerotic as Biden so by the time it responds to Charge A weve already moved on to Charge F (see my post Donald Trump, Impeachment, And John Boyds OODA Loop). Beyond the slowness of his campaigns reaction time, Biden is not a fighter. Hes simply not temperamentally suited to engaging in the bare-knuckle brawl that Trump seems to relish as is shown by his response to the corruption allegations against his son. Youll also notice that Biden has been abandoned by his fellow Democrats and is left to fight this out with just the help of his media friends and fluffers.
As a footnote, Harris is also toast I find this sort of shocking as I would have bet good money that shed be one of the top three candidates going into Iowa.
Everything is going Warrens way. Biden is fading. Harris and Buttigieg have been revealed to be insubstantial lightweights. Bernie Sanders is unlikely to go back on the trail. Right now, if you were forced to make a prediction youd say that she is the nominee. Well see how she does when President Trump and his team drop the twitching, tattered corpse of Joe Bidens campaign and turn their gimlet eyes of Pocahontas.
His latest fundraising round was more than $9 million behind his closest rival in the polls Elizabeth Warren. His total also ran well behind Pete Buttigieg and Bernie Sanders.
Thats a problem for a candidate who is seeking to compete in all four early states and also build out his campaign infrastructure in the 14 states that will vote on Super Tuesday.
Making matters worse, Donald Trump and Republicans have announced theyll launch $10 million in negative TV ads with $1 million targeted at the early nominating states alone pushing the presidents claim that Biden and his son Hunter engaged in corruption in Ukraine
...
The former vice president, with all the high-dollar contacts around the country you do all the big fundraisers in the big cities. Once you do that, thats it. If you dont have that perpetual, low-dollar fundraising machine, you cant compete, Kochel said, noting the massive figures reported by Bidens top rivals. Biden looks like he cant compete with Warren, Bernie and Buttigieg. Hows he going to compete with Trump?
I think Sanders, after his heart surgery in the last few days, loses his support and small donors to Warren. I think that once Biden's big donors have maxed out that his small donors won't match those in the orbit of Sanders/Warren/Buttigieg.
At some point, Sanders will recognize he's lost again and drop out.
Buttigieg, mostly a gay publicity stunt, might stay in the race past South Carolina.
I think Biden might fold up early, perhaps even before any caucus/primary. That is what Trump is trying to do, knock Biden out or wound him mortally in key states. When Biden's balloon deflates, it will go out with a bang, not just a slow leak. The first big frontrunners usually blow up spectacularly, like Howard Dean screaming his way to a NH/SC defeat with his scream of victory in Iowa. Hyaaaaah!!!
I see this is your first post since 9/11. Hopefully you've been busy (or suspended by Stone) and not ill.
