The findings were deeply troubling. Of the three purchased from legal dispensaries in California, the CannaSafe testing company found no heavy metals, pesticides or residual solvents like Vitamin E. But 13 out of the other 15 samples from black market THC cartridges were found to contain Vitamin E. CannaSafe also tested 10 of the unregulated cartridges for pesticides. All 10 tested positive. The products all contained myclobutanil, a fungicide that can transform into hydrogen cyanide when burned. "You certainly don’t want to be smoking cyanide," said Antonio Frazier, the vice president of operations at CannaSafe. "I don’t think anyone would buy a cart that was labeled hydrogen cyanide on it." Pirzada described the existence of myclobutanil as "very disturbing," adding that "it’s going to cause a very toxic effect on the lungs." As mentioned on the last hash oil vaping thread, do not buy cartridges being refilled by crackheads. Buy the sealed ones from a known legit company. Otherwise you have no idea what they're putting in it. The drug markets have a lot of adulteration of product. So we see people dying of fetanyl when they thought they were getting pure opiates (heroin, coke). Or they think they're getting coke but it's been stepped on by middlemen with veterinary de-wormer (levamisole). Sometimes the adulterant are used to try to intensify the drug's actions, other times it is just to stretch the product supply so dealers can make more money at it. We really should pass sentencing enhancements for people who adulterate drugs and sell them. These people are harming others medically with premeditation. Congress and the state legislatures should send these people a message: adulterated products that harm users will get you hard time. Overdoses, historic Plagues, AIDS... cancer. To: GrandIsland (#2) I think costs are far greater to deal with adulterated street drugs than with relatively pure ones. The medical costs go through the roof unless Darwin gets lucky and they get a dose of fetanyl instead of heroin. I also think that decriminalization would do far less harm overall. It is the profit motive and the small-time user/dealers that produce ever more powerful street drugs and adulterated street drugs. Quite obviously, there is a major hole in supply chain control when we see veterinary drugs used decade after decade to adulterate street drugs.
