Trump Campaign, RNC Raise $13 Million Following Impeachment Announcement

President Trump’s campaign and the Republican National Committee (RNC) have raised a staggering $13 million in the days following the House Democrats’ formal impeachment announcement.

The money raised stems from a combination of individual campaign contributions and fundraisers, according to recent reports.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) succumbed to demands from the far-left members of her caucus on Tuesday, announcing an official impeachment inquiry and using the “whistleblower” complaint as the chief catalyst for the probe.

“The House of Representatives will move forward with a formal impeachment inquiry,” she said. “The President must be held accountable; no one is above the law”:

In the days following, Trump’s campaign, along with the RNC, raised millions of dollars, further signifying that Trump’s supporters are gearing up for battle.

As Breitbart News reported, Trump’s campaign manager Brad Parscale announced on Wednesday that the campaign and RNC raised a combined $5 million in the 24 hours following Pelosi’s announcement:

As of Thursday, the campaign took in $13 million thanks to two New York fundraisers that raised an estimated $8 million in addition to the $5 million raised from individual online donors:

Additionally, the RNC raised $23.5 million in August alone and over $210 million since the beginning of the year.

This is very different from 2016 where Trump really ran on his own, lived off free media coverage (that they intended to defeat him in humiliation with), used only a little of his own money, and didn't do much for down-ticket candidates.

2020 will not be a repeat of 2016. Trump is running a full fundraising schedule and he started plenty early. His campaign and the RNC are joined at the hip and they all intend to set fundraising and campaign spending records in 2020, up-ticket and down-ticket. I think they'll succeed in that goal.

I dunno. A number of stuffy traditional country-club Republicans in the House are retiring, maybe as many as a dozen more thinking about it. They really don't like Washington with Trump running things. Especially with Trump running his mouth on Twitter.

Those open seats are much harder to defend even in districts that have a GOP advantage. Incumbents are always safer and cheaper to elect.

Even so, there are eight freshman Dems from California in the House that Trump and McCarthy are targeting in 2020. McCarthy is sure that he can get most of those seats back. There are other 2018 losses that the GOP is planning to challenge in 2020, before they start to accrue real incumbency advantages. Since the House Dems have mostly twiddled its thumbs fighting with Trump and trying to destroy Kavanaugh and screaming Russia-Russia-Russia, they have no record to run on. Nothing at all really.

McCarthy really wants to be Speaker. Like...Real Bad.
