In Brief

  • The Facts:

A former member of the Air Force Office of Special Investigations, Richard Doty, tells all to researcher Dr. Steven Greer in a long interview.

  • Reflect On:

With the reality of this phenomenon coming to light, how much disinformation has been spread by the 'powers that be' in order to twist the truth? Why?

Richard Doty is a retired Air Force Special investigations officer (AFSIO), and his job was to spread disinformation about the UFO subject during his time with the Air Force. Spreading disinformation about the reality of UFOs is no secret, and in Doty’s case, he admitted to infiltrating UFO circles along with his colleagues to feed ufologists and journalists lies and half truths so that they would never understand any real truth. This is something I believe is still occurring within the UFO community–multiple disinformation campaigns that are now perhaps more sophisticated as well as a number of frauds who are sharing their ‘experiences’ when they’ve really had done. In fact, it was decades ago when the very first Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, Roscoe  Hillenkoetter, stated to The New York Times:

googletag.cmd.push(function() { var slot = googletag.defineSlot('/19451915/Content_Top', [300, 250], 'div-gpt-ad-1483749641655-0').addService(googletag.pubads()); googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1483749641655-0'); googletag.pubads().refresh([slot]); });

It is time for the truth to be brought out in open Congressional hearings. Behind the scenes, high ranking Air Force officers are soberly concerned about UFOs. But through official secrecy and ridicule, citizens are led to believe the unknown flying objects are nonsense. To hide the facts, the Air Force has silenced its personnel.

Several astronauts have been quite outspoken about UFOs, like Apollo 14 astronaut Dr. Edgar Mitchell and high ranking military/government personnel from around the world as well. On top of all of this, the simple fact that many people have had their own experiences has also sparked interest in the subject. There are also multiple videos that’ve been released by governments around the world, as a couple came from the Pentagon over the past few years via the To The Stars Academy. Here’s a picture that the Canadian Air Force released in the 60s. It’s no secret that UFOs have been a topic of concern, as academic publications, radar trackings, and millions of pages of documents have been released from multiple governments detailing numerous interesting encounters with these objects.

So where does the extraterrestrial question come into play? It comes from hundreds, if not thousands, of people like the ones mentioned above. Credible sources with verified backgrounds have alluded to the fact that these objects are indeed extraterrestrial, and that this can be verified.

Yes there have been crashed craft, and bodies recovered. – Dr. Edgar Mitchell (source)

Not long ago, a leaked document exposed notes taken by legendary scientist Dr. Eric Davis during a meeting he had with Admiral Thomas Ray Wilson, the former Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, regarding extraterrestrial space crafts. You can read more about that document and access it here.

This is why it’s always interesting to hear such people talk about actual extraterrestrial entities rather than ‘UFOs.’ UFOs are no longer taboo within the mainstream, but the idea that some of them are extraterrestrial still seems to be a touchy subject.

According to Richard Doty, in the interview below with Dr. Steven Greer, maker of the hit documentary that’s currently on Netflix called “Unacknowledged,” the US government is aware of at least four different extraterrestrial species that’ve visited this planet.

Dr. Greer is well-known for interviewing multiple people with interesting, verified backgrounds, especially from the military and intelligence agencies. He’s a major reason as to why the topic of UFOs has garnered so much attention.

According to Doty:

There were four types of crafts that they showed us, four types of extraterrestrials, and they never explained to us where they got the pictures of these extraterrestrials but there were actually pictures of these weird looking creatures that showed on the film that were extraterrestrials from some other location different from where the EBENs came from.

One was looking like an insect, had huge eyes, very large head, a small body. They had two different appendages on their arms, they had basically two hands on each arm. They had several joints in their legs, and they had a bubble type appendage in the front and a lump or something in the back, that was one of them. They were about the size of an average human.

The second one was a very tall thing, very very thin humanoid that had long arms. Arms reached down probably to its knees, they had regular hands. Their faces were very very thin. They were almost human looking, unless you really really study them and got real close to them. They didn’t have any hair, they had cat like eyes.

And then there was a third creature… It looked something like the EBEN but it was bigger, it had a bigger body. I found out later in a briefing that I had, in 1995, that that was a genetically engineered creature that the EBENs made… They knew it was genetically engineered, and I don’t know how, they didn’t ever tell us how.

The “EBENs,” which stands for extraterrestrial biological entities, Doty describes as “about four feet tall” and that they “didn’t appear to have any ears, they had an indentation for the nose. They had very big eyes. They had a very tight fitting suit, almost looked like they were nude, but they actually had a very thin but tight fitting suit on. No thumbs just four fingers, suction devices on their tips of their fingers. One of them had a head apparatus on it, maybe a helmet or some kind of an ear phone, or some type of device that they were communicating with the craft or with something else, and they found a number of different objects in the craft. They had a piece of what they thought was plexiglass that they kept for years before they figured out it was an energy device for the craft.”

Doty goes on to explain that multiple crafts have been shown to use zero-point energy–meaning they’ve found a way to extract energy from the vacuum of space.

Jack Kasher, Ph.D, a professor emeritus of physics at the University of Nebraska, once expressed there is another way, whether it’s wormholes or warping space, there’s got to be a way to generate energy so that you can pull it out of the vacuum, and the fact that they’re here shows us that they found a way.” (source)

You can watch the full interview below.

Doty is not the only one to claim that the global elite is aware of extraterrestrial beings. Paul Hellyer, who was the Canadian Minister of National Defense in the 1960s during the Cold War, claimed that “At least four known alien species have been visiting Earth for thousands of years.”

“They have different agendas… Nearly all are benign and benevolent, they want to help us, [but] there may be one or two species which do not… They come from various places. For a long while, I only knew about ones that came from different star systems… There are some in our star system, there are actually extraterrestrials who live on a planet called Andromedia, which is one of the moons of Saturn, and that there are others on Venus, and some on Mars, and that they may be interacting between themselves… because there is what is called a federation of these people, and they have rules.” – Paul Hellyer (source)

These people have nothing to gain but ridicule for speaking up about these things. And it’s not just witness testimony, it’s testimony that corroborates with many others in similar positions.

Lyn Buchanan, one of the STARGATE army remote viewers, claims, as multiple others within the program have, that he was tasked to find out information on extraterrestrial groups that were/are visiting the planet.

There are multiple other examples!

Confirming Doty’s Identity

As far as Doty’s identity, UFO researcher Alejandro Rojas wrote a piece for Huffington Post in 2014 linking some very interesting documents regarding one of Doty’s misinformation missions, one of which he also speaks about in the interview below. The Guardian has confirmed his identity, as do these videos. But what really did it for me was Hal Puthoff’s response to this well-known UFO researcher.

Hal Puthoff is an American physicist who earned his Ph.D. from Stanford University. He is the Director of the Institute for Advanced Studies at Austin. His research includes theoretical and experimental projects in electrodynamics, quantum physics, gravitation, cosmology, energy research and more. His professional background includes engineering work at General Electric and Sperry as well as three and a half years spent at the U.S. Department of Defence. He served various government agencies, the Executive Branch, and Congress as a consultant on leading-edge technologies and future technology trends. He has been awarded the DoD Certificate of Commendation for Outstanding Performance, post-doc appointments at Stanford University as Research Associate, and more.

He is currently part of the team at the To The Stars Academy and was also the co-founder of the US Government’s STARGATE program, which examined parapsychology.

You can view a number of his publications here.

Doty claimed that he worked with Puthoff on multiple occasions and also mentioned him in the interview below. I came across a tweet from well-known UFO researcher Grant Cameron who tweeted that Hal Puthoff confirmed Doty’s identity. Furthermore, another popular and well-known UFO researcher, James Iandoli, also asked Puthoff to comment on Doty’s claims, and he did.

Dr. Steven Greer does not interview anybody whose credentials he cannot verify, which is also a noteworthy point. Doty’s identify has been confirmed by many, something which is hard to do when you’ve held these types of positions within intelligence agencies.

It’s safe to say that Doty is who he claims to be. Whether or not he is telling the truth is up to you to decide.

The Takeaway

Again, the reality of UFOs performing maneuverers that defy our known laws of aerodynamics and travelling at speeds no known aircraft made by humans can travel at is firmly established thanks to whistleblower testimony, radar tracking data, videos, and photographs. The evidence is overwhelming. The extraterrestrial hypothesis as an explanation behind the UFO phenomenon seems to be the most plausible explanation, and in my opinion the most obvious. There are many questions to still be asked and answered, and many things still remain uncovered. This is a topic that leaves no aspect of humanity untouched.

INTERVIEW: Defiant Rick Doty defends against 'liar' claims
November 20, 2017

At first glance, Rick Doty seems like a likable guy. He has an approachable demeanor, he's a proud family man and has no problem befriending UFO researchers/ complete strangers on Facebook. Doty's name in the UFO community usually doesn't elicit the aforementioned responses, rather it usually brings about one word; liar.

Rich Doty has spent time also working with the New Mexico State police.(Screen grab) Rich Doty has spent time also working with the New Mexico State police.(Screen grab)

Doty, a former retired Special Agent who worked for Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI), is the subject of many debates and conversations regarding government-induced disinformation campaigns. Doty claims his innocence, and was even the subject of the documentary film "Mirage Men," which focused on government's most infamous cover-ups of alleged UFO cases. Critics claim he ruined some people's lives, namely Paul Bennewitz who was eventually placed in a mental health institute after extreme paranoia after being given supposed hoaxed documents by Doty to help discredit and turn away Bennewitz's UFO research.

One UFO researcher referred to Doty as "the biggest liar in the world", so, we reached out to Doty to try to set the record straight. Everyone has a side of the story and a voice that deserves to be heard.

The following was done via e-mail correspondence. Is Doty everything the UFO community says he is, or is he just misunderstood from a UFO community inclined to question everything and everyone?

Judge for yourself.

Q: Were you happy with how you were portrayed in the documentary "Mirage Men? "

DOTY :No, I was not. Mark Pilkington falsified information I provided to him. He “voiced over” my interview. His intent was to portray the actual UFO story, not a disinformation campaign on his part. A good part of his book was disinformation, hoax documentation or just plain lies.

Q:Rick Doty created and spread misinformation regarding the UFO phenomenon-true statement?

DOTY: No, sorry, the only misinformation that is being spread about the UFO phenomenon is from UFO researchers. I have never spread any information that was incorrect. I’m not a UFO researcher. I don’t hang out in that crowd. The worse critics are those inside the UFO community. Phil Klass once said at a UFO Convention, “People within the UFO community do more harm to themselves that I could ever do”. I have never written a book, spoke on a speaking tour or have my own radio/TV show. How the hell could anyone say I’m spreading misinformation?

Q:The field of Ufology is always muddled with half-truths, disinformation, in- fighting and every case or expert is questioned and debated. Would you say if goal was to create this divide by planting the seeds of doubts in ufologists; mission accomplished?

DOTY: I am not a member of the UFO community. I am not a member of any UFO club, organization or clique. As I said before, the UFO community does more harm to themselves with all the in-fighting and discredits than anyone from the outside could do.

Q:Is Tom DeLonge another Paul Bennewitz?

DOTY: I have no idea what you mean about comparing DeLonge and Bennewitz. I am not following DeLonge and have never had anything to do with him.

Q:What should people know about Rick Doty the person, which they may not know?

DOTY: Every single assignment or mission I completed during my AFOSI career was totally sanctioned by the U.S. Government. I did my job and was given awards for my superior performance. After my retirement, I tried to spread the actual truth about the past U.S. Government involvement in UFOs. However, I was criticized, defamed, and humiliated by UFO insiders because the truth did not coincide with their beliefs. I fought back several times. I have been hired by producers and have written numerous scripts for TV/movies. Everyone who had knowledge of the real U.S Government’s involvement with UFOs know I’m telling the absolute truth.

Q:In your opinion and through your background, how many theories/cases about UFOs are fully fabricated (and be specific if you can)?

DOTY: I deal with fact…the truth. I don’t read or pay any attention to wild theories about fake UFO stories. I know the truth. I know what the U.S. Government did in the past, and I know what I did during my 11 year OSI career. I was briefed into the program and I was given access to highly classified information. I’m content that everything I read or saw was facts and not some disinformation program.

Ex-Air Force Law Enforcement Agent Says He Hoaxed Major UFO Mythologies
05/13/2014 07:48 pm ET Updated Jul 13, 2014

I have been researching UFOs for many years, delving deep into the underbelly of UFO lore, and one name seems to frequently pop up. His name is Richard Doty, and in the 1980s he was a special agent for the U.S. Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI) stationed at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He claims that while he was there he was tasked with hoaxing documents and feeding false information to UFO researchers. The Air Force refuses to comment on whether they knew of his activities and whether his claims of partaking in this activity at the behest of his superiors is accurate.

It wouldn’t be so bad if his stories of UFO crashes and secret UFO management groups, such as the fabled MJ-12, were not the subject of a large amount of books, movies, video games, television shows, and who knows what else. He says he even acted as a consultant for The X-Files, which is one of the very few tall tales of his that might actually be true.

Doty’s story has changed over the years, and some of the details of the stories are conflicting. In frustration with this whole situation, I decided to send the Air Force Freedom of information Act (FOIA) requests to find out more. I also wanted an official response regarding whether he was ordered to create these hoaxed documents.

At first the AFOSI Public Affairs Chief was very helpful. She expedited my request, and I received some very interesting documents. I was told that when my FOIA request was fulfilled, she would help me find someone I could talk to for an official statement. However, once I got the documents, she would no longer talk to me.

What was in the documents was very interesting and corroborated some of the legend around the Doty affair. The story begins with a man named Paul Bennewitz, who owned a humidity equipment company with contracts with Kirtland AFB. His house and office were near Kirtland, and he believed he was seeing UFOs over a part of the base that housed nuclear weapons. He also believed he was receiving transmissions from the aliens that flew those UFOs. Surprisingly, the Air Force humored him. They sent out Doty and an officer to investigate, but AFOSI decided that further investigation was unwarranted.

A few days later, Bennewitz was allowed to present his evidence to some of the officers and scientists at the base. He wanted a grant to conduct more research, and one of the scientists said he would help Bennewitz fill out the paperwork for the grant.

The documents also state that two U.S. senators from New Mexico had called or shown up at Kirtland to check on AFOSI’s investigation of Bennewitz and his E.T. contacts. Apparently, Bennewitz had sought their help. Both times the senators were told there was no investigation.

Doty claims what the senators were told was not true. Doty says he was told to make Bennewitz believe there was an impending alien invasion because Bennewitz was actually observing secret Air Force projects. According to Doty, the Air Force wanted to discredit Bennewitz so no one would figure that out. However, Doty claims that in doing so, he created hoaxed documents that were given to Bennewitz and other UFO researchers, and that he broke into Bennewitz’s house and office, some if not all of which is illegal.

I have been able to confirm that Doty did give Bennewitz documents that would make him believe he was under investigation, even though Doty told both senators that this was not the case. Bennewitz eventually checked into a mental health facility due to paranoia. Doty was successful, and Bennewtiz was convinced of the immanent alien invasion. This entire affair is incredibly unscrupulous, and Doty claims he did it all under orders. Doty is now a sergeant with the New Mexico State Police in Grants.

I think the Air Force needs to respond to Doty’s claims. I have drafted a letter that I sent to the Air Force asking for a response. I have yet to receive one. I have posted this letter online along with extensive references to my sources and the FOIA documents I received. Take a look and let me know if you agree that the Air Force needs to address this situation once and for all.

Salute,
Gatlin

Should Richard C. Doty, self-claimed government UFO disinformant, be tried for “domestic terrorism”? – – It will never happen
February 26, 2018 CIVILIAN INTELLIGENCE NEWS SERVICE

“I do not have anything to do with UFO research or investigations. I attempted to perform certain duties which would enable our team to trap possible foreign agents working against the interest of the United States. My supervisors, however, saw my actions as being unauthorized. Therefore, I was asked to leave AFOSI, which I did voluntarily” – – Richard C. Doty

The UFO community has been familiar with Richard C. Doty, self-proclaimed “disinformation agent” who used to work as an AFOSI officer in Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Doty now goes by the name of Rick Doty on Facebook:

https://www.facebook.com/rick.doty.986

Richard C. Doty allegedly fed a lot of misinformation to Bennewitz which eventually caused Bennewitz’s mental deterioration and paranoia, to the point of hospitalization. Doty’s claim was that he was part of the governmental ploy to detract attention away from Bennewitz’s interest in pursuing military research projects such as Project Starfire within the Kirtland Air Force Base. Of course, it ended up with Bennewitz’s misinterpretation of what he witnessed there.

The same goes for William L. Moore. It seems to me that both William L. Moore and Richard C. Doty, together, or if not, individually, fed disinformation to Paul Bennewitz allegedly under the delegated authority from the CIA or NSA.

But this may simply be just their grandiose claims that they were officially assigned this task by these governmental agencies.

However, it is difficult to obtain any documented governmental evidence that they were officially part of that assignment.

It is quite possible that they did all that primarily on their own, and not officially sanctioned by governmental agencies.

Paul Bennewitz passed away in 2003.

Bennewitz’s sons today operate the business (Thunder Scientific Corporation, located right next to the main gate of Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque) but refuse to talk about their late father, since they are still doing business with the Air Force.

In his excellent book, “DULCE BASE: The Truth And Evidence From The Case Files of Gabe Valdez”, Greg Valdez, middle son of the late Gabe Valdez (New Mexico State Patrol Officer in charge of Dulce, New Mexico for many years) brings out some significant points:

He writes:

“The transfers of Maj. Earnest Edwards (Kirtland Security Police) and Richard C. Doty (of AFOSI) to Germany coincided with the involvement of Senator Peter Domenici in the mystery.

As his office began inquiries into the activities in Dulce to the Air Force, Richard C. Doty and Maj. Earnest Edwards ended up in Germany.

It was also at this time that Doty ‘retired’ from the Air Force, and it appears from other evidence that he was forced out of the Air Force.

Senator Domenici was very influential with the Los Alamos and Sandia Laboratories, and his inquiries were more than likely what ended Richard C. Doty’s Air Force career.

What is also important to remember is that the NSA (as well as CIA) never obtains search warrants to place listening devices in homes.

Under the guise of ‘National Security’, they placed these warrantless bugs in Gabe Valdez’s and Manuel Gomez’s homes in Dulce, New Mexico.

That type of covert activity is usually conducted by the NSA or CIA, and usually outside the general working proceedings of the AFOSI.

It’s also something the CIA typically gets involved in, especially if the mystery aircraft (that allegedly crashed on Mount Archuleta, northwest of Dulce, New Mexico in 1983) was a CIA aircraft”.

I am just simply quoting from Greg Valdez’s book.

For a while, Richard C. Doty worked as a State policeman in the small community of Grants, New Mexico.

However, he is no longer associated with New Mexico State Patrol.

The problem with Richard C. Doty is that he was (and still is) spewing out UFO nonsense even after he became a State policeman, and even after he left.

Recently he appeared in a documentary title “MIRAGE MEN“.

It seems to me that this documentary was nothing but double-talk by Doty.

It seems to me that Richard C. Doty (with zero credibility) conveniently claims he promoted the UFO mythology basically as a cover for secret aviation technologies developed during the Cold War.

Yet he himself seems to be a firm believer in some of the very same UFO mythologies he claims he promoted, such as his claims that humans were genetically manipulated by extraterrestrials!!

The bottom line to all this is the question:

Was Richard C. Doty, while under the employ of AFOSI, fully responsible for ruining the life of Albuquerque businessman, Paul Bennewitz?

I am not saying that he was. I am simply asking this question.

Of course, if he was, then some day soon Richard C. Doty will have to pay for what he has done!!

Here is a comment from R. Edmund Gomez, one of the sons of Manuel Gomez, proprietor of formerly the largest cattle ranch in Dulce, New Mexico:

“Based on his stated intentions, law abiding U.S. citizens were treated as “possible foreign agents” for defending their family and property. Was breaking into civilian homes and stealing pictures and documents, planting electronic listening devices, making threatening telephone calls and, overall, violating basic U.S. civil rights part of his M.O.? If so, he is a domestic terrorist, a criminal and coward and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law! Oh, by the way, he was commissioned a New Mexico State Police officer after being terminated from the U.S. armed forces for performing his atrocities. God help us”.

UFO Disinformation Agent Richard Doty is Up to His Old Tricks: Beware the Many Lies He Tells Steven Greer
Saturday, November 11, 2017

As one of the first persons to expose Richard Doty’s disinformational activities, decades ago, I would like to offer the following information.

First, a few words about myself: Since 1973, I have interviewed more than 160 former or retired U.S. Air Force personnel regarding incidents involving UFO incursions at nuclear weapons sites. Seven of those individuals participated in my September 27, 2010 press conference in Washington D.C., which CNN streamed live. The video of that event

By Robert Hastings - The UFO Chronicles - 11-8-17
may be viewed at www.ufohastings.com.

I will leave it to others to judge the value of my longstanding commitment to UFO Disclosure as well as the credibility of my ex-military sources.

Now, regarding Doty, anyone who believes his latest offering of BS, as presented in Steven Greer’s new film, is utterly naïve and deserves to be duped. As the following links will reveal, Doty’s long, deplorable track record of disseminating utterly false information about the UFO phenomenon, and the U.S. government’s knowledge of it, is remarkable and continues to this day.

Whether or not his current utterances merely serve his personal need to screw with persons such as Greer, and the rest of us—or are instead the latest chapter in his involvement in the government’s effort to confuse and misdirect public interest in the UFO topic—is unknown. However, given Doty’s many disreputable actions over the years, one needs to review and understand his history before attempting to evaluate his most recent public claims.

My more recent if lengthy summary of Doty’s activities relating to the forged MJ-12 documents, the duping of Linda Moulton Howe, the psy-war operation against Dr. Paul Bennewitz and other nefarious deeds may found at:

Operation Bird Droppings The MJ-12 Saga Continues

A briefer overview of Doty’s role in the MJ-12 hoax is at:

MJ-12—The Hoax That Quickly Became a Disinformation Operation

A related examination of Doty’s repugnant actions toward Bennewitz, on behalf of OSI, is at:

UFOs Filmed Hovering Over U.S. Air Force Nuclear Weapons Storage Area

Another researcher, Ryan Dube, has developed irrefutable information linking Doty to the Serpo Operation hoax, revealing Doty’s ongoing involvement in disinformation long after his retirement from the U.S. Air Force. While Dube is a UFO skeptic and often dismisses credible UFO cases as having no merit, his highly documented exposé on Doty is dead-on-target. It may be read here:

Project Serpo Uncovered

In 2009, I posted a public comment in which I said that New Mexico State Policeman Gabe Valdez had told me that Doty—who had joined the police force following his retirement from the Air Force—once told him that he, Doty, had forged “lots” of UFO-related documents while working at OSI at Kirtland AFB. Doty read the post and, on May 24, 2009, emailed me to say, “A simple fact, Mr. Hastings, everything I did during my intelligence days was sanctioned.” Significantly, Doty, in his response, didn’t deny my assertions regarding his involvement in forging the MJ-12 “documents” and other items.

Indeed, in a rare moment of candor, in the film Mirage Men, Doty finally confesses that the OSI operation against Linda Moulton Howe in the early 1980s, when she was presented with the fraudulent MJ-12 documents, was designed to derail the completion of her HBO documentary on the UFO cover-up.

I had first made that claim, publicly, in the late ‘80s and, later, in my 2009 “Operation Bird Droppings” article, linked above. It only took Doty three decades to come clean on this but at least it’s now a matter of record.

Nevertheless one may still find numerous articles online about the alleged validity of MJ-12, written by supposedly astute persons who just can’t admit that they have been had. Even today, Linda Howe continues to gush about the wonderful revelations she was privy to, courtesy of Doty, completely ignoring the bogus nature of the “documents” she was presented.

So, folks, it’s up to each of you to either review these linked items or just ignore them. I know from long experience that many persons are only interested in the most sensationalistic claims about UFOs, aliens, and the government cover-up, and will not take the time to investigate whether any given claim on the Internet actually has a factual basis, in the form of vetted witness testimony and/or authenticated declassified documents, which are at a minimum required to substantiate it beyond a reasonable doubt.

Sad but true.

I cannot prevent Richard Doty from playing the games for which he is so infamous, nor can I prevent foolish, gullible persons from swallowing his crap, which they will certainly do. However, those who wish to understand what he is up to here, using factual, documented information to investigate his past actions, should take the time to check out these links.
