Title: Gun rights activists test Walmart request not to open-carry guns into store

Gun rights activists in Texas are testing Walmart’s request not to open-carry in stores by doing just that.

David Amad, the vice president of Open Carry Texas, told The New York Times the 38,000 members of his group have openly carried their guns inside Walmart stores since the retailer announced last week it is “respectfully requesting” customers to no longer openly bring guns into its stores.

He said none of the members who have done so have been asked to leave.

“They are ducking the issue,” Amad told the Times. “They are trying to get the gun haters to leave them alone, while at the same time leave us alone when we carry in their stores.”

A Walmart spokesperson told The Hill that employees are not instructed to approach peaceful shoppers who may be carrying guns in areas where hunting is popular. The goal is to maintain a “non-confrontational approach," the spokesperson said, citing the language Walmart president and CEO Doug McMillion used in last week’s announcement.

However, the spokesperson said the company has provided guidelines for store managers if a customer is making employees or customers uncomfortable. Managers are expected to take the advised protocol for different situations, which in some instances may mean calling law enforcement.

Walmart’s decision to ask gun owners not to openly carry firearms into its stores came after an August shooting at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas, left 22 dead.

The decision stopped short of an outright ban on guns in stores and represents a similar approach to those taken by other retailers, including Kroger, Walgreens, CVS, Target and Starbucks.

Costco is the only retailer in the top 30 largest U.S. retailers to ban firearms, based on interviews conducted by The Hill last week.

Stores can legally restrict the carrying of guns on to their private property.

So they won't enforce their little "request".

However, the spokesperson said the company has provided guidelines for store managers if a customer is making employees or customers uncomfortable. Managers are expected to take the advised protocol for different situations, which in some instances may mean calling law enforcement.

Well, unless an authorized manager decides to call out a SWAT team to gun down old people on electric shopping carts if someone feels "uncomfortable". Of course, shooting up some of the customers may make them somewhat "uncomfortable" but that's the price you pay if you want genuine Chinese counterfeit goods, made with genuine toxic chemicals and using the stolen intellectual property and patents of American companies that Walmart intends to run out of business with its Commie-sweatshops in China.

Welcome to Walmart.

So are we allowed to wave our dicks around at Walmart? Is this some new customer incentive?

I guess a manager might call the cops if you're waving a gun around and making people nervous.

But they definitely will call the cops if you're waving your penis around? Are they afraid it might go off? Does that make people nervous?

I think Walmart needs to hire more transsexual managers to deal with these quandaries.

I am a Libertarian on business issues. If customers are allowed to discriminate against a business, then a business should be able to discriminate against customers.

Rule of thumb: when they say, "I'm a libertarian on _______ issues", they are not a libertarian of any flavor at all. Quite often, this is just a mask for a statist or fascist to adopt; even libs will try to pull this nonsense off with a straight face. People who say this are usually just a routine Republican or CoC/Koch whore working for the Kochtopus and what they want is lower taxes for business or public spending on war munitions and weapons systems and other military waste production, all while running up bigger deficits and debt.

Interesting.

I will in the future take that into consideration.

I thought that was some new dating site for the PeopleOfWalmart. But it's just a shopping list site.

Too bad, I thought it would be great for the open carry guys to wander around Walmart, waving a gun in one hand and their penis in the other. That would give those old ladies quite a thrill on their grocery junkets.

You may recall the big banners on every store that Walmart opened in the early days back in the Eighties, "Made In America" and "Made In America, Available At Walmart", etc.

That was during the grand openings of their stores, right before all those banners disappeared and Walmart was hiring engineers and designers to rip off every design of every product in their stores so they could produce those same exact items as ripoffs in their Chink sweatshops using prison labor, child labor, well, all the positive attributes of an imprisoned Commie workforce. Just fly a few freakin' flags over the local Wallyworld outlet and the rubes will pour through those doors, full of patriotic shopping sentiment and too stupid to notice that everything suddenly seemed to have a Made In China marking on it.

Those flags flying at Walmart should be the flags of Red China if there was any honesty in advertising.

BTW, I was at CommieaMart yesterday and picked up some new sheets. My old ones are quality sheets but they're old and I need more decent sheet sets so I can wash sheets less often but also change them more often as well. I also bought extra pillowcases (a ripoff) but I like washing pillowcases more often. I feel I can do better sheet rotation with four sets of sheets and I can just wait until I have 3 sets of sheets and then wash them all in a single quick washer load. Maybe I need 5 sets, I'll see how it works. I am the kind of guy who has over 50 pairs of underwear and 50+ pairs of socks just to simplify laundry and so I always have clean stuff to wear.

I bought a 300-count cotton sateen sheet/pillowcase set for just over $30, the brand was Better Homes & Gardens, an iconic American brand name. And, hallelujah, the sheets were not made in China.

They were Made In India. But of course they were.

Maybe the Indians are finally going to take over America again. Kind of.

Five sets = Overkill.

I'll follow your advice for now. It did occur to me that I don't really want 3 sets of dirty sheets hanging around until laundry day so 5 sets would be like hoarding dirty laundry.

Hard to balance convenience with avoiding being a dirty laundry hoarder.

Ah, the travails of being a happy homemaker and simplifying laundry - without being a total pig about dirty laundry - while shopping at CommieMart...

I've got to get a new hobby.
