"We want our stores to feel safe & welcoming for all, so we respectfully ask customers to not openly carry firearms in our stores unless they are authorized law enforcement officers," the company said in a tweet bit.ly/2HPH03R. The announcement comes as other retailers such as Walmart Inc (WMT.N) and Kroger Co (KR.N) tweaked their gun policy, with Walmart saying it would discontinue sales of ammunition for handguns and some assault-style rifles in stores across the United States. I can totally see why in todays climate guns carried openly would frighten people. It would also confuse people on who is a threat, and who is not. I was always against it as a bad political tactic. You don't have to exercise every right 24/7, right in people's faces. It was never going to turn out well for gun rights folk. Frankly, I'm surprised that corporate America took so long to tell the open-carrier types to stop carrying in their stores. Open-carry is for times of rioting and civil unrest or for your farm/ranch or suburban acreage. Otherwise, get yourself a CCW and carry discreetly. If your state doesn't allow it or keeps CCW permits out of almost everyone's reach, move to another state. Or just stay there and shut up.
