The encounter between Cuomo and the man happened at a Shelter Island bar — that appears to be Sunset Beach — on Sunday. The video, surreptitiously filmed by the man Cuomo was shouting at, was uploaded to Twitter by a user who said he was sent the clip. “Punk-ass bitches from the right call me Fredo,” Cuomo told the man, who claimed he thought the CNN anchor was named Fredo. “My name is Chris Cuomo. I’m an anchor on CNN. Fredo is from The Godfather.” “They use it as an Italian aspersion. Any of you Italian?” Cuomo continued. “It’s an insult to your fucking people. It’s like the N-word for us.” They went back and forth, and at one point Cuomo said, “I’ll fucking ruin your shit. I’ll fucking throw you down these stairs like a fucking punk.” A CNN spokesperson told Mediaite in a statement, “Chris Cuomo defended himself when he was verbally attacked with the use of an ethnic slur in an orchestrated setup. We completely support him.” Cuomo is receiving support from outside CNN as well. His 9 p.m. rival at Fox News, Sean Hannity, tweeted “good for [Cuomo]” in response to the video. “He’s out with his 9 year old daughter, and his wife, and this guy is being a jackass in front of his family,” Hannity wrote. “Imho Chris Cuomo has zero to apologize for. He deserves the apology.” Cuomo is off air this week, but he will return on Monday. CNN

How will anybody know?
I'm counting the minutes before Twitter starts banning anyone who posts using a #Fredo hashtag. It'll be a bigger massacre than banning people for tagging posts with #LearnToCode to ridicule some journalists losing their jobs after those very same journalists had posted lots of Learn To Code articles themselves about coal miners and others losing their jobs in previous years.

Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 13, 2019 Trump retweeted a tweet from 6:09pm 8/12 that was linking to Saavedra's reporting on the Fredo scandal. At 7:22pm 8/12, Hannity issued his tweet supporting Fredo also linking to the Saavedra report, saying Cuomo was out with his wife/kid. Which was not true. No wife or kid to be seen. So at 1:41pm 8/13, Trump blasts the "Republicans who come to his [Fredo's] defense". I don't watch or listen to Hannity much because he's too tiring and formulaic. But I would love to know how he managed to backpedal away from carrying water for Fredo after his hero, Trump, condemned Republicans doing exactly that. And Hannity justified it in part by saying Cuomo was being insulted in front of his wife/kid (which he was not). I'm waiting for Trump to call Hannity #FakeNews. : ) Of course, the two just hadn't coordinated their tweeting. Neither would have tweeted what they if they had compared notes with each other much.
What's really funny is that the guy thought his name was Fredo. Listening to too much Rush, I guess.
I thought Cuomo was right and that the guy was baiting him. Except I thought maybe it was a 4chan/8chan setup based on Cuomo referring to himself as a Fredo back in 2010. But so far, no indication that it was the funloving 8chan guys pranking Cuomo so who knows? Usually with a 4chan/8chan prank, they'll take credit after a few days.

Cuomo was interviewed by Curtis Sliwa on his AM 970 radio show in January 2010 about whether his brother Andrew might seek the Democratic nomination for governor.
Hopefully, no one will ask him if he is the dumb brother of the Trump family or if Eric or Barron is.

I say good for @ChrisCuomo It always happens! When a Conservative does even a fraction of what Chris Cuomo did with his lunatic ranting, raving, & cursing, they get destroyed by the Fake News. But when a Liberal Democrat like Chris Cuomo does it, Republicans immediately come to his defense. We never learn!
