Samuel Gompers was once asked what he wanted for the American labor movement and American labor, and his answer was simple, "More." And that is exactly what the modern Left wants too, but in this case it is a true zero-sum game, and we are across the table from them. Everything they want is at our expense, everything they desire is ours, and they want to deprive us of so many things...our wealth, our freedom, our safety, our defense against tyranny... But it's not just their obvious desire for power and control that drives them. They have internalized all of the class hatred and envy from every psychotic progressive movement in their political philosophy, and have made that hate the primary driver of everything they attempt. We saw it exposed with Hillary Clinton's infamous "Deplorables" speech in 2016, and before that in Obama's "Bitter Clinger" remarks eight years earlier. But it is now accepted in polite company to express this hatred and disgust for half the country. What shocks them to the core is when our president doesn't just meekly accept the vile and vicious and contemptuous prattle, and responds with forceful condemnations of the people who spout this hatred. Make no mistake; this is not just political disagreement. This is a fundamental dislike and rejection of the culture, ethics, beliefs and morality of half of America. They Will Still Hate You Even If You Disarm What's the answer? Well, I know what isn't the answer, and that is how the Republican Party has dealt with these attacks for a generation. I am through with tolerating personal attacks on my beliefs, and that means attacking the Constitution and in particular the 1st and 2nd Amendments. Yes, I take it personally now, and I won't back down. The Left and their willing fools have had uncontested control over the public square for too long. Push back wherever you can. The 2nd Amendment is just the most obvious and important chip on the table. But if they get that one, does anyone believe that they will stop? The next right they want to destroy is free speech, which is coupled with freedom of religion. And after that? Who knows? Property rights are mostly gone already, so your guess is as good as mine. It was quite a surprise to find out that we Trump voters were personally responsible for the savage murder sprees of a creep who dug single-payer and a satanist fan of Big Chief Warren. The El Paso scumbag decided he wanted to murder Hispanics because migration would somehow destroy the environment, which falls right in line with classical progressive eugenics balderdash. The Democrat from Dayton was full-on #Resistance. But apparently we conservatives were to blame for their actions because we refuse to give up our rights.

The hate us - we hate them, same as it ever was. Only now the intensity of hatred and rhetoric is much more intense - on both sides. Welcome to the wonderful world of partisan politics. But it is now accepted in polite company to express this hatred and disgust for half the country. I'm glad to see that no one at LF is in that category.

You are a good example of a libertarian. You call wrongs right. You champion addiction and push for immoral drugs to be used for recreation. Then in self delusion you beat your chest and proclaim how great your ideas are. Libertarians are in many ways fools.
I didn't perceive it that way when I was younger. But then, the Dems controlled Congress for decades and the libmedia hated Reagan even more than Nixon. But ordinary voters didn't have such animosity toward each other at the time. Now you see columns giving advice on how to sell 0bamacare to your relatives, how to talk to your crazy uncle at Thanksgiving and inform him that you know he is racist/sexist/homophobic/transphobic, etc. I think the Internet has really magnified the hostility between ordinary partisans in both parties. More so on the Left than the Right but there are entire websites just offering the most incisive clickbait they can produce every single day. Me too, bro. LF is an island of sanity and harmony.
