Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) has paid quite the toll for being a crusader for liberty, as he still suffers complications from an ambush attack conducted by his leftist former neighbor that could have taken his life. Unfortunately, I will have to limit my August activities. Part of my lung damaged by the 2017 assault had to be removed by surgery this weekend. The doctors, nurses, & staff at Vanderbilt University Medical Center were great. I should be able to return to the Senate in September — Senator Rand Paul (@RandPaul) August 5, 2019 Paul was assaulted in November 2017 by avowed socialist Rene Boucher in an attack that broke the Kentucky Senator’s ribs, bruised his lung, and caused him several painful bouts of pneumonia. The assailant was sentenced to only 30 days in federal prison although Boucher was forced to pay up $580,000 in a civil suit to Paul for conducting the attack. This was not the only time Paul has been targeted in the past several years. He was also at the Congressional baseball practice that was shot up by left-wing terrorist James T. Hodgkinson, a Bernie Sanders volunteer who joined groups such as “The Road to Hell is Paved with Republicans,” “Donald Trump is not my President” and “Terminate the Republican Party” on his Facebook account. Paul was yet again lucky to escape with his life from that ordeal. Paul’s wife Kelley wrote an op/ed in 2018 detailing the horror that her family has had to endure from the psychotic Left as they become more openly deranged and terroristic in the age of President Donald Trump. “In the last 18 months, our family has experienced violence and threats of violence at a horrifying level. I will never forget the morning of the shooting at the congressional baseball practice, the pure relief and gratitude that flooded me when I realized that Rand was okay,” she wrote in Oct. 2018 in an open letter to Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ). “He was not okay last November, when a violent and unstable man attacked him from behind while he was working in our yard, breaking six ribs and leaving him with lung damage and multiple bouts of pneumonia,” she added. Paul’s wife noted that Democratic Party leaders such as Booker have cheered on this type of political violence and harassment, particularly in the lead up to the 2018 mid-term elections. “Rand was besieged in the airport by activists “getting up in his face,” as you, Senator Booker, encouraged them to do a few months ago,” she wrote. “Preventing someone from moving forward, thrusting your middle finger in their face, screaming vitriol — is this the way to express concern or enact change? Or does it only incite unstable people to violence, making them feel that assaulting a person is somehow politically justifiable?” she asked. Paul is still badgered by vicious leftists to this very day, such as Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), who think the attempts on his life are a laugh line and something they secretly hope occurs to other liberty-minded public officials.
