If there is a spoiler in the 2020 Democratic race for the nomination, it may turn out to be Mayor Pete Buttigieg of South Bend, Illinois. Running on a platform that seems to mostly consist of being the first openly gay President, Buttigieg has been turned into the mainstream media’s new darling superstar. Infatuated with his gay credentials and his stylistic similarities to Barack Obama, he stole Beto O’Rourke’s Young Phenom crown before the Texas Irishman ever knew what happened. On Sunday, he officially declared his intention to run for the White House. Part of Buttigieg’s sudden popularity comes from his dogged willingness to appear on any show or podcast that invites him. He may be from the Obama school of style, but he hasn’t missed the lessons of Donald Trump, either. He knows that in an overcrowded field of candidates, there’s no substitute for publicity. He’s gone on Ellen, he’s been on Stephen Colbert’s show, he’s been on Maddow, John Hardwood’s CNBC show, and he’s even been on stage at the SXSW festival. Where there’s an invitation extended, there’s a Mayor Pete there to confirm his attendance. Speaking of Maddow, it was on her program that Buttigieg appeared on Monday night, where he made a rather interesting assessment of the American electorate. In the world according to Pete, Republicans are in control of the White House and the Senate through some mysterious, systematic form of fraud and cheating. If it were a fair fight, he told Rachel, Democrats would win every time out. “You know the Republicans in the Senate changed the numbers of justices on the Supreme Court to eight. Until they took power. Then they changed it back to nine,” he said, blatantly misrepresenting what happened after Scalia’s death. “A lot of what we’re talking about is no less a shattering of norms than what the other side has done,” he continued. “We’re proposing to do it in a way that’s more inclusive. I would say more constitutionally sound, more appropriate. And will by the nature of the checks and balances in our system, have to go through a thoughtful and rigorous process. I think that if they try tinkering with the system, again they are doing it under the table in so many ways. If they tried doing it more nakedly, they will encounter resistance.” Mayor Pete continued, insisting that most Americans were more comfortable with the liberal way of running Washington. “Most Americans don’t want this,” he said, without evidence. “Most Americans don’t want the conservative agenda that we are now seeing, the extreme agenda, we are seeing in Washington. In fact, it is precisely for that reason that they have to interfere with democracy with voter suppression or clinging on an electoral college that overrules the will of the American people. It’s because the American people by and large don’t want what they are selling that they are relying on manipulations of our political structure in order to keep their agenda in play. ” We know that the Rachel Maddow Show is a fact-free zone where Democratic Party propaganda of the worst kind gets lots of free airtime, but really? Republicans only win because they manipulate the political structure of the U.S.? Ohhh, it’s because we don’t want illegal immigrants and dead people voting. How silly of us to forget. But yeah, we can see why the media loves this guy.

This President is the first true President we have had in decades and we need to keep him there until another one like him comes along. Mayor Buttplug: you wouldn’t be the first homosexual president ( Bathhouse Barry ring a bell?). Second the whole country IS NOT Hollyweird so I wouldn’t count on you being president of anything except the Homosexual Bathhouse Association. The vast majority of Americans think that when one man shoves his pee pee up another's poo poo, then that's a no no. Further, it should not only be considered a sin, but a crime punishable by imprisonment.

I've been around awhile and I know what the norms used to be. Conservatives established the norms, not shattered them.

I think Buttplug will, ultimately, have all the longevity and impact of Jon Ossoff.
Perhaps they should try a transsexual candidate, or a lesbian. They should stick with the hair smeller.

If you don't vote for him that means you're a homophobe. Even if you do vote for him, but he doesn't win, that means the entire country is homophobic -- including you. And if he does win, even two terms like Obama, the country, including you, is still homophobic because shut up.
