Besides being Man's Best Friend, dogs can be trained to perform many tasks.
" I have no doubt that dogs WILL be in Heaven with us. "
I firmly believe that as well !!
I enjoyed the story about pirate.
I have adopted three dogs out of the local shelter. My current Lab was only about 6 mo old when we got her. Had her about 9 years now. Wonderful dog, but very head strong.
I adopted two seniors from the same shelter. Both were wonderful dogs. Supposedly both were due to be put down within the next week. Both were senior dogs. They were running out of space, and both had been there for awhile. The first was a lab, the second was a Border Collie mix. They had guessed the BC was about 6 yr old. We had him for 6 more years before he passed because of heart problems. We gave each about 6 more years, of hopefully a wonderful life, with as much love as we could give them. They both gave a lot of love!!
I still miss them, and sometimes get tears in my eye thinking of them !!!!
Of course, I feel the same about all the dogs I have previously had, and still love them all !!!!

And be able to talk with us and reminisce: "Remember that time you gave me your last piece of Pizza crust? I REALLY loved you for that" ;-)
I will always believe they are God's gift to Man. That notion hadn't always occurred to me. Like many, at one time my thought was: "They're just animals." I was obviously very wrong.
Here's another thought: It occurred to be that dogs demonstrate the same unconditional, undying love and loyalty as The Lord.
I'm glad you enjoyed the Pirate story...It appears you've had your own versions. Thanks for sharing your stories.

God bless you, Stoner; You are doing the Lord's work. It's touching...and a beautiful thing. Thank you for what you do.
