33-year-old woman was mauled to death Saturday by her two pit bulls, who’d been quarantined earlier this month after a biting incident in Irving, Texas, according to a police statement. The attack occurred at O’Connor Animal Hospital in Irving. The victim, Johana Villafane, was visiting the dogs Saturday when she was attacked in an outside exercise area, according to the statement. The animals had been under quarantine after escaping Villafane’s yard weeks ago and biting her neighbor, the statement says. They were under observation for signs of rabies, according to police. The statement didn’t indicate how severe the bite to the neighbor was. When staffers at the facility noticed Villafane’s visit was running a little long, they went to check in on her, discovering the mom of two on the ground and bleeding while her dogs attacked her. Staffers called 911, and responding officers arrived as the dogs were still attacking Villafane. Officers tried approaching the severely injured woman, but the dogs responded aggressively, forcing one of the officers to fatally shoot the dogs. Speaking to the local CBS affiliate, a neighbor described the two dogs as “aggressively friendly.” A Facebook fundraising page has been launched for Villafane, and, as of Monday morning, it had generated nearly $14,000 in donations. The page describes Villafane as “an amazing mom that was completely in love with her two children.” It adds: “We want everyone to remember her as she was — a very happy, loving, fun, caring, helpful person.”

Depends on the pit bulls,and the people that own them. I have several friends with pit bulls,and the dogs are as nice and friendly as any dogs you will ever see. Pit bulls are no different than people. Some are nice,and some just need to be put down. The prime differences seem to be in the way they are treated when they are very young. If you abuse and mistreat a child or a dog,that dog or child will grow up to be an aggressive adult. I used to hear the same thing about Dobermans you hear about pit bulls today,and then one day my mean-ass 5 lb calico female cat had a fully grown female Doberman follow her home,and into the house when I opened the door to let the cat in. The Doberman was a LOT friendlier than the cat was,and within a couple of days was very affectionate. She and the cat would greet each other with licks and purring,and the cat lived with me for almost 2 years before I could touch her without getting bitten or scratched. In her favor,she always gave a warning. She also hated other cats,and pretty much anything else that moved. Except dogs. She LOVED dogs until one made the mistake of being aggressive to her. After that,it was game on,and there was NOWHERE in the neighborhood for that dog to take a safe nap and not wake up wearing her on his head as he tried to run away while she was slicing and dicing him. She had the neighbors 100+ lb male German Shepherd so afraid of her he knocked himself out one day after running into the wall of the house he lived in while trying to get away from her. No matter how big a dog is,they have to sleep sometime,and she was gonna get them. The funniest thing I ever saw her do was decide one day she liked my father after he had a heart attack and I had to move home to take care of him. He hated her,and she,of course hated him right off the bat because that was just her nature. I even had to threaten him to make sure he didn't kill or hurt her because he didn't like cats. I told him "tough titty. I don't like living here and taking care of you,either. You should have been willing to move to where I was living and making 5x as much money,but you are a selfish old bastard that doesn't care about anyone but yourself. If I didn't owe you I would have never came back. You hurt that cat and I am gone." Then one day a few months later the cat decided for some reason of her own that she liked him,and jumped up in his lap to take a nap while he was watching tv. He got all stiff and started to move,and she raised her head and snarled at him. He instantly lost all interest in snatching her up or chasing her away,and started begging me to "come get this damn cat off of me!" I did,once I stopped laughing and making fun of him. Came home early a few days later and caught him cooking fish for her. Then I would come in sometimes after he had gone to bed and find her sleeping in the bed,curled up next to him. He never admitted right up to the day he died he ever "let that damn cat sleep with me",but the last words he spoke the morning he died was "Boy,you take good care of that damn cat,hear me?" Those were literally his last words as he lay dying. He had finally met something harder-headed and more unreasonable than he was,and he admired her for it. I named her "Homicide",and my best guess is she was about 18 when she died of cancer. Been years,and I still miss her. For the most part she liked people as long as they left her alone,and she liked dogs as long as they didn't need to get their asses whipped. My doberman was also a female,and obviously seemed to think cats were some sort of deformed puppies because I never saw a cat she didn't show affection. Miss the dog,too. She died one day while giving birth to puppies while I was at work,and my asshole father claimed he was too afraid of her to try to get her help. I think he wanted her dead,and that was the day I laid down the law on that cat suddenly disappearing. He didn't like the cat,either. Or anything else,as near as I could ever tell.

Had a friend that his live in girlfriend had a Pit and a small ankle biter. First time I went over, was a bit concerned. But the pit was a big baby. I had a beagle that was more vicious than their pit. It was very friendly. As friendly as my beagle, and any lab I have ever owned. His girlfriend had raised the pit from a pup.
I have met pits that were as friendly an animal as you could find. Pits on average are the worst animals ever brought into the human world. I deal with dogs all the time and pits are the ones I have the most issues with. Its so bad that we tell customers they have to put the pit up or find someone else to do the job. Its just about the only breed I have issues with. Im to old to run and getting bit will end badly for everyone. Statistically speaking they are but a small part of the dog populations but account for 80% of the mauling's and deaths.
