EASTLAKE, Ohio — The Eastlake Police Department posted to Facebook to respond to community outrage over the arrest of Richard Adams, who was also charged with felonious assault for attacking a teen he allegedly witnessed molesting a 5-year-old boy. “We have received numerous e mails, phone calls and communications in which people have expressed their emotions and frustrations with the recent case that we had involving the investigation of a rape of a 5 year old and the assault of the accused 17 year old male,” the post states. The post goes on to state that Adams has been out on a personal bond since Friday, the day after the incident occurred, and he has been assigned a court date. “We truly understand the interest, passion and concerns with this type of case,” the post continues. “It has been processed by the court and will continue to go through the system. Most of the people within our police departments, courts and the entire justice system have families of their own and the men and women are diligently working to ensure that everything is done correctly so that justice is served.” The post concludes: “To attack people within the system to achieve a certain outcome is not what justice is about. We appreciate the impact that this story has had on the community and beyond but we expect people to be civil in expressing their disagreement and/or support of what has and will take place.” Adams, 20, was arrested and charged after a fight broke out between him and the 17-year-old who he saw sexually assaulting a 5-year-old-boy, according to an Eastlake police report. Adams said he walked into the living room of the home on East 363rd Street and saw the teen on top of the child with the child’s pants around his ankles. Adams then yelled for someone to call the police, but made sure the assault was stopped. “I didn’t just call the cops and let it pursue. I stepped into action and stopped it,” Adams said. Adams said he couldn’t stop from physically ending the assault because it hit close to home. He said that he had an experience similar to the 5-year-old when he was a child. News of the incident has made its way across the country and Adams has received a wide range of support, from people calling him a hero to others offering to pay for his legal costs. I can say only one thing with certainty: there are some major facts in this case that this miserable reporting does not include. The police and D.A. are almost certainly withholding some info and other facts in the case have not yet come to light as they always do in the course of an investigation. We don't even know exactly what the charge of "assault" against Adams means. You can be charged with "assault" for merely touching another person if it is unwanted touching. When we hear "assault", most of the public thinks of what is called "battery" or "aggravated assault". And it doesn't help that every state has differing legal standards for these kinds of charges. Saying that Adams "assaulted" the teen is about like arresting him for "disturbing the peace", yet another catch-all crime you can charge almost anyone with under any circumstances.
He's charged with felonious assault, that's not trivial. Info on what the perv teen was charged with would be nice.
I can understand why the cops felt the need to do this. If you allow what some people would call vigilante justice to take place without being questioned,pretty soon there would be anarchy in the streets. Hell,look at all the illegal assault problems we have with actual cops. I am HOPING they just decided this is the correct way to handle it to protect this young man from a lawsuit,and to serve the public at the same time. Let this go to court before a judge,and IF things are as they seem to be,let the court decided it was a justified assault taken in order to protect a child,and dismiss the case because of that. With a finding like that the defendant will pretty much be bulletproof from any assault lawsuits by the rapist or his family,and walks away with no cloud over his head. Win/win for everybody. Don't get me wrong,if he is convicted and does any suffering and the facts are as we now understand them to be,I will be the first person screaming "Fire the cops,the DA,and have the judge removed from the bench!"

Anarchy *already* reigns in the streets; That's how 5 year olds get sexually assaulted in broadlight. The reason for this whole charade is because even police are afraid to do the right thing. Frankly, they are also trained to be cowards. In the OLD days, "Neighborhood Justice" took out the trash. Only it wasn't called "Vigilante Justice," a term invented by SJW to discourage the citizenry from enforcing common sense law.
TODAY'S courts? Far too many judges filled with SJW freaks, perves, and Leftists. They aren't there to mete "Justice"; They're about spite, revenge, and subversion of justice.
Yes. Nice AND necessary. The proceedings are already Kangaroo Court-like.

And yes, already the case is filthy, the HERO victimized by a slanted DA report intended to insult and sully his character. The stench of injustice reeks from yet another judge and PD that lacks any sense of ethics or morals.

Maybe,but I don't know,and don't even care. Call me a Neanderthal if you want,but if I ever walk upon such a situation,the molester will be lucky to reach the hospital in one piece. There are some things a civilized society just can NOT allow,and stuff like that is number 1 on the list. If you don't protect minor children,you have no right to call yourself a civilization.
