Time to cleanse the palate with a catchy little Juice Newton ditty.

So what? Late 70s and 80s pop videos were the best.

LOL Rough dates. That crutch-thwack dropped her like a sack of spuds; cracked me up.
Side note: I love me some close-up card magic. RIP Ricky Jay.

Juice Newton - Queen Of Hearts

I had always thought that this song was written by Dave Edmunds - turns out it was written by the pedal steel guitar player in Emmy Lou Harris' band, Hank DeVito.

I like both her version and Edmunds'.

Government is in the last resort the employment of armed men, of policemen, gendarmes, soldiers, prison guards, and hangmen.
The essential feature of government is the enforcement of its decrees by beating, killing, and imprisoning.
Those who are asking for more government interference are asking ultimately for more compulsion and less freedom.

I have and like both versions too; been a Dave Edmunds fan since he was a new act. Rockpile, baby; about as good as short pop tunes ever got.

LOVE steel pedal guitar.

Somehow even IT is now removed from modern "Country" sound.

Good mid-80s ditty, cool, innovative vid too.

They lead vocalist still has his chops.

Were you guys into Linda Ronstadt at all?

This wasn't nearly my favorite Ronstadt ditty, but this particular LIVE performance is just spectacular. A Top 3 IMHO. Rounding out the Top 3 spectacular live performances:

Lou Reed's 'Sweet Jane' (R&R Animal), featuring Dick Wagner & Steve Hunter. Dire Straits, 'Sultan of Swing', Alchemy. (Hank, you wound up buying that CD/DVD, right?)

What a band this was! Watch/listen to how sync and tight these guys are, the joy and passion as Linda exhorts them on. No AM station would ever allow the rides and this song to go on 6 minutes. They tore it up.

Andrew Gold (had his own band, never knew how good on guitar his was, besides proficiency on piano), Kenny Edwards (under-rated vocalist, bassist), Waddy Wachtel (great long-time guitar sessions guy, still plays for Keith Richards), Dan Dugmore (pedal steel), Brock Walsh (keyboards) and Mike Botts ( drummer from Bread.)

Yes indeed, despite her ill-advised romance with Governor Moonbeam.

She was young and naive so I'll give her a pass on that one.

Sad - she has lost her voice due to Parkinson's disease.

Somewhat, she had a great voice. I was working in radio and got a copy of this picture disc when it came out; still have it somewhere in with the vinyls in storage:

That vid was pretty good; I kept hoping gravity would win out against fabric technology, but no such luck.

I was working in radio

When and where? I did college radio for 4 years and worked at a few small market radio stations in upper Michigan and the midwest from around 1977 to 1986 before getting a TV gig.

Not on air - I'm the classic example of someone who has a face for radio.

Mostly doing voice-overs, production, weather and directing morning news.

Yes indeed, despite her ill-advised romance with Governor Moonbeam.

Tremendous powerhouse vocals. She could belt 'em out. No one re-worked then covered other artists material like Ronstadt. AND...made it sound much better. Amazing.

Yeah, she was really cute. She did have a naive quality and seemed exceptionally genuine.

Her Moonbeam "romance"...UGH. But was it REALLY?? NEVER made any sense, did it? Sure, she was young...but...is it possibe they each others beard? (Rumors in later years were that she swung both ways.)

Btw, on this vid, check out how these guys at the sound-board all light up like little boys as soon as Linda turns her attention toward them. Everyone must have had a crush on her.

Man, back then...LIVE. What professionals. (The band = Same basic line-up as in the above 'You're No Good' vid.)

Her cover of The Everly Brothers' "When Will I Be Loved" is an outstanding version of that 50's classic.

A couple others I really liked were Little Feat's "Willin" (great trucker song) and "Silver Threads and Golden Needles" a 1956 Wanda Jackson song - I thought Hank wrote it but I was wrong.

Yeah, Linda having Parkinsons is a shame. I'm also reminded of Teri Garr and her problem.

Linda was so gifted...and...her voice and personality a gift for all of us.

It's a reminder that we should learn to appreciate things...as nothing on this earth last forever.

Her role was to give Jerry Brown a "beard" to cover his homosexuality. I don't know about anyone else, but I didn't have a clue about her being a lesbian.

The Eagles got their start as her band. The last time I saw either, she was their opening act,and her last song was "Desperado". Which was the song the Eagles opened their act with that night.

Women had a voice that rings like a freaking bell. It has to kill her that she lost her voice and had to quit performing and touring. I was lucky enough to see her in concert several times, and she always performed like the champ she was.

In the entire history of the world, the only nations that had to build walls to keep their own citizens from leaving were those with leftist governments.

Given that he is a homo and she is a lesbian,it wasn't much of a romance. She was just giving him political cover.
