Title: House Republican not ruling out Libertarian run in 2020

GOP Rep. Justin Amash on Sunday did not rule out a run for the White House in 2020 as a libertarian, but said it was "not on his radar."

"I would never rule anything out," the Michigander said on CNN's "State of the Union."

"That's not on my radar right now, but I think that it is important that we have someone in there who is presenting a vision for America that is different from what these two parties are presenting," he said. Amash is the chairman of the House Liberty Caucus, which represents libertarian-minded lawmakers.

Amash, who was first elected as part of the tea party wave in 2010, notably did not endorse Donald Trump for president in 2016. Recently, he was one of 13 House Republicans who opposed the president's national emergency declaration.

"Right now, we have a wild amount of partisan rhetoric on both sides and Congress is totally broken," Amash said Sunday. "We can't debate things in a clear way anymore. Everything has become, 'Do you like President Trump or do you not like President Trump?'"

"I think that we need to return to basic American principles, talk about what we have in common as a people because I believe we have a lot in common as Americans," he added. "And try to move forward together, rather than fighting each other all the time."

Former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson was the Libertarian Party candidate in 2016. He got 4.489 million votes.

I think the LP has made a mistake with allowing GOP pols - especially has-been hacks like Bob Barr or William Weld - to be their nominees in recent elections.

Rand Paul or Justin Amash would not be as bad and could credibly be called consistent libertarians.

Amash is a lunatic Muslim lover. Never ever.

I wouldn't panic just yet. Even if Amash was the LP candidate in 2020, he wouldn't do any better than Gary Johnson did in the last few elections. Chances are, he would do worse. Johnson had a record as a popular and fairly conservative GOP governor in a Blue state. Very few people even know who Amash is.

I will admit Amash gets it right sometimes. I used to kind of like him. Until he sided with the Muslims against our culture.

Amash is part of a long line of Pali Christians. They do have different views from your average American Christian conservative. And Amash is an Arab, like many of the Muslims are.

Kinda like Mia Love, right? Amash is one more Trojan Horse globalist.

The GOPe's strategy was to run a bunch of Trojan Horse "conservatives"...then immediately flip their mask off once the voting in Congress began. Amash, Love (now gone) and countless "Republicans" are nothing but mercenary NWO-Globalists in disguise.

You should figure out who your real enemies are. Amash isn't on that list.

And Trump made himself look small with his potshots at Mia Love. Infuriating to the GOP establishment and rightly so. Dancing on the grave of a member of your own party who just lost a race by a handful of votes because you thought she was insufficiently adoring of your awesomeness? Trump made himself small and petty.

Bashing Amash is like bashing Rand Paul. Certain elements among the GOP elite, especially the neocon faction like the former Weekly Standard, issue regular condemnations of both of them (and KY congressman Massie) on a regular basis, almost like they have a calendar reminder set to stigmatize them over some real or imagined deviance from conservative orthodoxy.

You'll also notice that the NeverTrumpers tend to despise Rand/Amash/Massie as much or more than they hate Trump.

On what planet?? Amash (R-Middle East)

She started it. He finished it (and rightly so.) Like Amash, Love was/is another wolf in sheep's clothing.

As to the globalist Vichy GOPe being "infuriated" -- NOTHING infuriates them so much as A PRO-AMERICAN FIRST Agenda. Meh.

The abortion issue is his ONLY saving grace. There are MANY serious issues and challenges these days. LIKE THE BORDER AND WALL.

Other than Amash's abortion position, just how does he support MAGA??

ALL Mooslimbs are "THE WORST KIND." Don't kid yourself.

Btw, you have to realize and acknowledge the fact that DJT not only doesn't actually make these kinds of decisions, but the coup launched by PTB against him is STILL IN EFFECT. (*If it wasn't, The Wall would already be up, the millions of Invaders NOT HERE, and The Hag already serving her Life Sentence for SEDITION, TREASON, MURDER, etc.)

QUESTION: How could any decision possibly be more insane or dangerous than Barry 0dinga and his NWO puppet masters handing over $150 billion to Iran -- while letting those nuts continue working on their nukes?

Johnson shot himself in the foot when he did the interview outside on the campus. He was stoned out of his mind and did the last two minutes of his speech with his tongue hanging out. Boom. Credibility gone.

What a disappointment Mia Love was. All that support and she turns on those who elected her. You are so right, she started it.

Mia slit her own throat. Trump offered her support, made robo calls for her and she bashed him over border security, among other issues. She was totally out of touch with voters, then played the race card when she lost.

"Love also targeted the news media for what she called "uneducated, unfair, irresponsible stories. My ethics, my record lied about, tarnished and repeated over and over again on TV right in front of our children."

I wasn't personally fond of Johnson, never voted for him.

The LP has never managed to find a GOP/ex-GOP candidate that fit them as well as Ron Paul did back in the Eighties, when he was their nominee. When you look at the other ex-GOP candidates they've had, it has probably been a detriment to their party. The LP ought to recruit and nominate candidates of their own party, not ex-GOP governors or congresscritters. I think that is a losing game for them.

Johnson was a pot smoker back when he had chemo for cancer, said he gave it up after that. AFAIK, he still stands by that. Of course, maybe he's gone recreational now and is happy to puff a joint. I have seen a few interviews he did where he didn't seem well-prepared or made dumb remarks. But every candidate does, sooner or later. Whatever the deal is with Johnson, I don't suspect pot use as the cause of it. But I wouldn't rule it out either.
