Conservative commentator Ann Coulter lashed out at President Donald Trump Friday for signing a bill to reopen the government that did not include funding for the border wall.

Conservative commentator Ann Coulter lashed out at President Donald Trump Friday night over his signing of a bill that would temporarily open the government that did not include any money for his border wall.

Coulter slammed Trump for the concession, telling "Real Time" host Bill Maher *that the president had broken* "the promise he made every day for 18 months."

"Now you're finding out he's a lying con man," Maher said. "What was your first clue?"

Over laughs and shouts from the audience, Coulter replied "Okay, I'm a very stupid girl, fine."

Coulter continued to rail against Trump's proposed border wall as a whole, saying it was only good for "employers" and the elite rich, offering the Koch brothers and Rupert Murdoch as examples.

"It's all of mass immigration, it's our legal immigration, it's no E-Verify," Coulter said, not offering any further explanation. "The wall is a big part of that, and you're being played to have everyone keep acting like this is some racist thing."

Coulter continued: "It's great for the rich... bad for people who work."

Coulter added: "It's good for me, but I care about my fellow Americans and the working class."

Over the first two years of Trump's presidency, Coulter's support for the president turned to biting criticism as months passed and no actions were taken to construct the wall.

Days before the government entered a partial shutdown on December 22, 2018, Coulter said Trump was "dead in the water if he doesn't build that wall."

Coulter's appearance came hours after she invoked the memory of former President George H.W. Bush, who passed away in November 2018, to call Trump "the biggest wimp to ever serve as President of the United States."

After Trump announced he had signed a bill to provide temporary funds to reopen government agencies until February 15, conservative personalities offered a wide variety of analysis and criticism for what some called a "cave."

In his speech announcing the reopening of the government, Trump mentioned the border wall and threatened to shut down the government again if Democratic lawmakers did not include it in the budget.

"We really have no choice but to build a powerful wall or steel barrier," the president said. "If we don't get a fair deal from Congress, the government will either shut down on February 15 — again — or I will use the powers afforded to me under the laws and the Constitution of the United States to address this emergency."

Trump also doubled down on his previous threats declare a national emergency, bypassing Congress and securing funds for the wall.

"As everyone knows, I have a very powerful alternative, but I didn't want to use it at this time," Trump said.

If Coulter is upset now, why wasn't she upset with all the other spending bills he's signed that didn't contain wall funding?

Trump has certainly not given up on the wall. There is the reality that Trump has to deal with the D's, and these are D's that are not opposed to his agenda. Theses are D's that are opposed to him.

This is far from over. There does seem to be some inhibition on on his part to declare the emergency. Not sure what it is though.

I have not seen any recent polls, but would bet that after Trump caved to Pelosi & Schumer, he has lost a lot of his base. We will see .

She was. She has been on him for not getting the wall built or even started. She has been on Trumps ass so much that Trump stopped following her online.

Trump has a small window to get the wall started or his support will dry up from those that know with out a wall we will get low iq voters who will fall for socialism. Once this happens America is dead and will collapse in matter of years. Im not sure if the point has not come and gone and we are just watching the slow death of America already.

But, if we do not stop the invasion of 3rd world parasites, as they suck up more of our resources, tax dollars, spread disease, crime, raping & killing American citizens, and voting commiecrat thus enabling a perpetual commiecrat controlled nation, our nation will be tremendously screwed !!!

All the good that has been done will be meaningless if the invasion is not stopped !!!

I agree. He's giving the Democrats what they asked for -- end the shutdown so we can negotiate. Now, everyone knows -- including Trump -- that they have no intention to negotiate.

Pelosi and Schumer will never give Trump his wall. But their intransigence will give Trump the opportunity to appeal to other Democrats in the House and Senate, hoping they will ignore their leadership and switch their positions.

If not, Trump has an excellent case to take to the people -- the Democrats are being unreasonable and acting out of pure politics. Trump gave them everything they asked for, and they still refuse to build a wall.

Then Trumps acts unilaterally and starts construction. From what I've read, he doesn't need to declare a national emergency.

Isn't it a treasonous act to do nothing and intentionally allow the country to be overrun by outside invaders?

Trump is better than the alternative, that is as exciting an endorsement as I can muster. Either we solve the immigration crisis/invasion or the country is toast.

Build a wall, deport deport deport ALL who are here illegally. Deny ALL social services to non citizens except true emergency care. Require a SS card to get an ID, with proven citizenship. Unable to rent a house, or a motel/hotel room. No purchases of a car without a license. No birthright citizenship. If you are in the country, you should be treated as if you were on the FBI's most wanted list. Hound them from the country, back to the shitholes they represent. Benefits are for those who go through the legal steps, or are born citizen

He never had enough votes. He needed Democrats, and he wasn't going to get them.

Trump's only hope was to veto a CR and cause a shutdown, but those CR's only came up at certain times.

One of the CR's was right before Christmas, 2018. Not a good time for a government shutdown. One was right before the 2018 November election. Another was when Trump signed a spending bill (without wall funding) to get money for the military.

I seem to recall that this last time was about the first time he could veto spending.

True. And on 12/20/18, the House proposed a bill which included $5.7 billion to fund Trump's border wall and $7.8 billion for disaster relief. (Remember Pelosi said "You don't have the votes"?)

It passed 217-185. Eight Republicans opposed the bill. It then went to the Senate, but they needed 60 votes -- which they didn't have.
