The New York congresswoman-elect announced Monday in an Instagram video that she'll be taking a week off to prevent feeling burnt out before she even begins her new job. 'I am starting a week of self-care where I am taking the week off and taking care of me. I don't know how to do that though, so I would appreciate any and all self-care tips,' she said. The 29-year-old Democratic Socialist revealed that she drove to 'the middle of nowhere' in upstate New York with books, lavender oil and music, and later took to Twitter to politicize her decision for time off. 'For working people, immigrants, & the poor, self-care is political - not because we want it to be, but [because] of the inevitable shaming of someone doing a face mask while financially stressed,' she wrote. Ocasio-Cortez later said self-care is political for working people and the poor She said on Monday that she'll spend a week in upstate New York 'in the middle of nowhere' Ocasio-Cortez lamented how campaigning for her future position has taken a toll on her heath routines, saying she neglected herself in the process. 'Before the campaign, I used to practice yoga 3-4x/week, eat nutritiously, read and write for leisure,' she wrote on Instagram. 'As soon as everything kicked up, that all went out the window. I went from doing yoga and making wild rice and salmon dinners to eating fast food for dinner and falling asleep in my jeans and makeup,' she added. Since unseating longtime Democratic Rep Joe Crowley in the New York primary earlier this year, Ocasio-Cortez has been vocal in her fight toward socialism. She recently promised to pay her interns a 'living wage' and is actively hitting back at critics who mock her appearance and age as the youngest person ever elected to congress. It may also be her constant battle with Republicans that has her so worn out, after most recently clashing with Kelleyanne Conway, Donald Trump Jr and Sen Lindsey Graham who question her political knowledge. Her comments have left some questioning her ability to hold a governmental seat, after she said there were three chambers of Congress (there are two: the House and the Senate), threatened Donald Trump Jr with subpoena power and compared the Central American migrant caravan to Jewish refugees fleeing Nazis. But now she says she'll be spending a few days with 'lots of books to choose from, epsom salt, lavender oil, notebooks, pens, music etc...' The 29-year-old Democratic Socialist said without self-care 'activists WILL burn out and walk away' She wrote on Instagram that campaigning took a toll on her heath routines, which included yoga and healthy eating She said on her Instagram story that 'self-care is important for activists'. 'Without it we WILL burn out and walk away,' she added. Ocasio-Cortez welcomed tips from her followers on how to pamper herself this week and promised to take her base along with her as she 'learns what self-care even means and why it's important'. 'I keep things raw and honest on here since I believe public servants do a disservice to our communities by pretending to be perfect,' she said. 'It makes things harder for others who aspire to run someday if they think they have to be superhuman before they even try,' she added. Ocasio-Cortez and other newly-elected lawmakers will begin their term on January 3.

Take up scuba diving, but ditch the oxygen supply tank. Women should not be running our government, rather they should get fulfillment from bearing and caring for children , cooking for their family, serving their husband, making clothes for the family, and directing her family to Church of Synagogue.
