Palin attacks Steele critics Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin chided critics of Michael Steele on Thursday night for “throwing stones” at the chairman of the Republican National Committee. Steele came under fire from his own party last week over a series of comments he made in interviews promoting the release of his book, including his prediction that the GOP will not win back the House. Adding to the chagrin of some Republicans, Steele did not inform other GOP leaders that he was even writing a book, which the RNC chairman has been painting as a blueprint for the GOP’s resurgence.
Steele has made clear that he is not leaving the RNC, though that has not stopped some committee members from trying to approve a resolution barring him from doing any more interviews promoting his book.
Despite his issues, Palin cheered on Steele during an interview with Fox News’s Sean Hannity.
“I say after Michael Steele’s comments the other night, right on, more power to you, Michael,” Palin said. “You’re calling it the way that you see it, and you deserve to call it that way.”
Palin characterized Steele’s message as “buck up or stay in the truck, critics. If you don't want to help out, if you don't want to help the cause of getting these common-sense solutions to all these challenges facing us, then you know, go find something else to do.”
To Steele’s critics, Palin said, “don’t just sit there throwing stones” over “inside baseball.”
Following Steele's rough week, Palin said she sent him an e-mail to say that “99 percent of Americans don't know who these people are — the establishment — and they couldn’t care less about what’s going on internally.”
