[Side Note: add in TREASON and you've pretty well described the Clinton Presidency...all kidding aside!!] The basic rule of Soviet [and Lib'ral DemonRAT] behavior was laid down years ago by Lenin: Probe with bayonets. If you encounter steel, withdraw. If you encounter mush, continue. The question is which will the Soviets [and the Lib'rals] encounter: steel or mush? The answer to that question lies with America's leadership. Not just the political leadership. What kind of world view the American President has, how well he understands the uses of power and the nuances of diplomacy, whether he has a strategic vision and the will and shrewdness to carry it out--all these are vital, even dispensable, elements. But more broadly, the answer lies with those segments of American leadership whose attitudes determine the limits of the possible for American policy. Unfortunately, America is still suffering from the legacy of the 1960s. A rabid anti-intellectualism swept the nation's campuses then, and fantasy reigned supreme. Attacks on anything representing the established order were in fashion. The discords of that decade and of its aftermath critically weakened the nation's capacity to meet its responsibilities in the world, not only militarily but also in terms of its ability to lead." Let me clarify myself here...I really have no problem with "liberals", and that is why I ALWAYS use the word "Lib'rals" to describe the folks I have a beef with. "Lib'rals" in my lexicon are those folks who insist on forever growing the Federal leviathan and centralizing as much Power as possible in either the Federal Guv'ment or the United Nations. SHEEESH, we've got a $2.57 TRILLION Federal Budget this year!! That's approximately one-fifth (not including Social Security) of the Gross Domestic Product being siphoned off by the Feds...EVERY YEAR!! And presently we've got a majority of the SCOTUS doing every thing it can to grow government Power with almost every case they review!! That's tyrannical in my book...and thereby EVIL!! Now, let me make it clear that I don't believe all Lib'rals are EVIL. No, in my belief system, Lib'rals can be either EVIL or IGNORANT. And by IGNORANT I don't mean these folks are STOOOPID, just that they IGNORE the fact that Socialism has been proven to be EVIL (i.e. National Socialism in Germany in the 30's and 40's, Soviet Communism in the Soviet Union fer most of the last century, and Pol Pot's murderous regime in Cambodia, etc). Absent the Mass- Murder, America's growing flirtation with Socialism is EVIL as well. If a group of folks openly and proudly promote an ideology that has been demonstrated to be EVIL, collectively I call them EVIL, even if they aren't necessarily EVIL individuals. Heck, when I was recently back in Kansas fer my Grandma's 90th B-day, I ended up discussing politics with some Lib'ral relatives who I usually only exchange emails with. These folks are not unlike yer dad, and I think I might have made some headway in convincing them of my mantra about "Devolving Power Outta the Federal Leviathan and Back to the States, Localities and Individuals as prescribed by our Constitution." With a couple of them, I even think I got them to understand- -if not adopt--my wish to "Git the US Outta the UN!! Git the UN Outta the US!!" I love these folks and think they are good people fer the most part, but I think they fear Liberty and the Responsibility it implies. They choose to IGNORE the FReedoms we are surrendering to the various levels of Guv'ment, especially the Federal Guv'ment. No, ex-Marine, I respect true "liberals" (aka Classical Liberals), but I think the Big Guv'ment proponents hijacked the word "liberal" to make their "socialism and tyranny" more palatable to the masses.
