The Senate Judiciary Committee endorsed Judge Brett Kavanaugh in a party-line vote Friday afternoon, sending his Supreme Court nomination to the full Senate a day after an emotional hearing where a California professor leveled sexual assault allegations that he adamantly denied. The committee voted 11-10 to recommend Kavanaugh, with previously undecided Republican Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., boosting the nominee with his late-breaking support.

However, that support came with a last-minute caveat. After meeting with Democrats behind closed doors ahead of the vote, Flake emerged to call for a delay in the full floor vote to allow for an FBI investigation “limited in time and scope.”

He backed Kavanaugh in the committee vote, but said he'd only be "comfortable" moving on the floor if the FBI investigates further. He said the pause should last for no more than one week. The call throws into doubt whether Kavanaugh can win enough support. The FBI and Trump administration previously have balked at another investigation. But Republicans have a slim 51-49 majority and can afford few defections.

He made it out of committee but Flake Flaked out and said his floor vote was not certain unless there is an FBI investigation.

Predictable. Jeff Flake's straddling the fence (like a few here at LF) is just the kind of unprincipled cowardice and hypocrisy we'd have seen from the likes John ("It's-kinda-hot-down-here!!") McStain.

Meanwhile, the Dems and this Ford clown still have ZERO corroboration of her malodorous, defamatory claim from 36 years ago -- a claim based on WHAT?? The fake-memory of a drunken whore(D)?

Kavanaugh has the support of countless friends and acquaintances (many female) who have already vouched for his character; Ford: ZERO.

So...Bring it on! Let's have a SEVENTH FBI investigation. But to be "fair", and since the distant past is NOT affected by any statute of limitations, let's escalate the FBI investigation! Let them also perform the same political microscopic colonoscopy on Kagan and Sotomayor since THEY escaped ANY scrutiny/defamation whatsoever.

Ditzy mental deficient Ford (this 12-year old sounding broad is a university Professor of psychology? REAALY??") MUST be investigated for her texts, personal history, and agenda. AND prosecuted for being a false witness (aka PERJURY) and sued for defamation of character. (btw, Twitter and FB AND G00gle -- the last of whom Ford have recently" hung out" with -- have ALREADY performed their scrubbing of Ford's social media evidence of subversion). INVESTIGATE G00GLE!

Frau Feinstein MUST be investigated for her 20 year relationship with her ChiCom spy/"driver". Feinstein's LEAKY staff as well.

Now that the Dems and their whore-enabler Flake demand a Feeb "investigation", precedence is set for support of FBI investigations of ALL Democrats. (And GOPe. Like Flake. McConnell. Collins. Murkowski and her supposed Senate victory. Retroactively and otherwise.)

This is a major miscalculation by the Democrat Party and by Jeff Flake. I fully support Senator Flake's own closet be blown open by a DEEEP FBI investigation.

Flake is a worthless POS !!!

To make amends to their fellow US citizens, the citizens of Arizona should line up, and each take turns kicking / stomping his worthless ass !! If he is still breathing after that, take him out in the desert, stake him out, let the sun fry him. Let that be a warning to ANY congressman / senator they send next !! Then mount his head on a pike at the capital. After that, maybe, maybe, maybe we will forgive them for inflicting us with him & McStain !!

A couple of thoughts:

(1) The Senate is not 51-49, it's 50:49. McCain died and his replacement will not be seated until after the election. Without Flake's vote, it's 49:49, if Flake abstains (then Pence breaks the tie), but if Flake goes the other way, it's 49-50, and Kavanaugh is defeated.

(2) This FBI investigation is a fantastic opportunity for the FBI to come forward with a report that rejects Ford's claims as unsubstantiated. Assuming Kavanaugh did not do these things, the FBI will find that, and the report will boost him and hurt the Democrats.

Apparently he said he is a 'yes' now for confirmation but who knows? Flake is the right name and he could change again. Murkowski was a no and if Manchin votes as he did today and Collins then there would not to be tie break by VPOTUS.

.... if Manchin votes as he did today and Collins then there would not to be tie break by VPOTUS.

Today Manchin did not cast a deciding vote. If Collins were to vote no tomorrow, it would reach Manchin at 49 Yea and 50 Nay. In that case, Manchin may still vote yea, but he might get evicted from the Dem party. A nay and he would likely get voted out of office. That may also apply to a few more endangered Dems tomorrow. The Yeas could go to 52 or 53.

And when Murkowski votes "Nay", will she be evicted from the Republican Party?

How about investigated for some crime (show me the man, I will show you the crime) and then expelled from the Senate?

Kavanaugh will be confirmed.

The Republicans will hold the House and the Senate and extend their leads in both.

After the election, Rosenstein will bring Mueller's investigation to a swift end: Trump will have won control of the Republican Party and the government.

Then things get interesting.

For I believe that Trump will govern the way I want to see things. I think that the Republicans (including those around here) will be so happy with being securely in power and running the show that they will turn a blind eye to the things that Trump does that make me happy, and that will make Independents and conservative Democrats happy, that would make free-traders unhappy.

I see from here on out remarkably smooth sailing for my belief system. I'm going to get my way, finally.

Trump will win re-election, and he will have the opportunity to put two more justices on the Supreme Court.

Roe v. Wade will be overturned.

Our health insurance system will come to resemble that of France.

The Wall will be built.

It's going to be good.

People are falling in line.

The next big opportunity for it to fall apart will be the same as when H.W. Bush took over from Reagan. We voted for Bush because we wanted 8 more years of Reagan. But Bush departed from Reagan and did his own thing, so he lost.

Pence will either continue forward with the populism and protectionism of Trump, and make America even Greater. Or he will revert to standard conservative business Republican mode, and that will give the Democrats the opportunity to come back.

So, if Pence stays the course, the Trump change of direction will be akin to what FDR did. It will be permanent, and the country will be better for it.

We need to pad the Senate Red. Too often are we teetering on the likes of Collins and a hopeful rare conservative Dem to save the day. Kavanaugh was not the most conservative justice Trump had on his list. There is one female justice with I think 5 kids, 46 and very Catholic. She needs to get on the bench.

Just curious. why don't elected officials change to the party that suits their beliefs better. Manchin could be a republican and be elected easily in WV. Collins and murk. could be democrats and be elected in theirs. why don't they do that?

why don't elected officials change to the party that suits their beliefs better.

Because if you have a democrat running against a democrat who says they are a Republican. Then you have a 100 percent chance of electing a democrat.
