Ranking the media from liberal to conservative, based on their audiences By Aaron Blake, October 21, 2014 One chart I didn't get to include in my post Tuesday morning on Pew's new study of Americans' media habits was the one below. Pew has basically taken the average viewer/consumer of all of these media outlets and plotted them on a continuum, trying to ascertain which outlets are favored by which side of the political spectrum. 
There aren't a whole ton of surprises here -- conservative talkers are on the far right, while most mainstream media outlets have a slightly left-of-center audience -- but there are a few interesting takeaways here: 1) The most-preferred media outlets of liberals, according to Pew's study, are the New Yorker and Slate. 2) Fox News's viewership is pretty moderate compared to the Hannitys, Limbaughs, Becks and Breitbarts. This is probably because Fox's audience is just so large that it couldn't be relegated to an extreme end of the chart. But even liberals watch Fox. 3) The broadcast stations (NBC, CBS, ABC) and online news sites like Yahoo and Google have a more middle-of-the-road audience than other mainstream media outlets. People who read BuzzFeed, Politico, The Washington Post and The New York Times all tend to be more liberal. 4) MSNBC, despite its reputation as the most liberal cable news network, has a more moderate audience than the four publications mentioned above -- and only a slightly more liberal audience than CNN. 5) About half of the 32 outlets have an audience that pretty clearly leans to the left, while seven have audiences that lean conservative. The rest (including all the broadcast networks) are somewhere near the middle. That, more than anything else, is a testament to Fox's domination on the political right and American conservatives' distrust of other mainstream media outlets.

Why where do you think their audience is located? A little Greek restaurant I've been going to off and on for 20 years always has CNN on the big screen. Very few people pay any attention to it but the ones who do laugh at the stories they're telling so what does that say about that audience??

It's interesting that they essentially have Glenn Beck in there twice in one group.... The Blaze AND the GB Program. He must be their god, loved by all? That is funny. I'm not buying into their rating system and definitions of liberal & conservative. The terms have changed a lot over the years, and really don't mean much of anything nowadays. A more useful scale would be from liberty loving, to authoritarian. Then Hannity Fox and Huffpo would be together, in the pro-tyranny and big brother nanny state group.
They're still trying to make themselves look mainstream and everybody else to be wackos and radicals. Black is white in other words.

That there’s chaos in the White House. That it’s a food fight. That it’s, you know, a bunch of monkeys throwing excrement at each other on any given day. We’ve watched it play out for years now. I do think there’s a couple categories of people in the White House. There are accomplices. Sarah Huckabee Sanders would fall deeply in that category. There are people who are serving necessarily. Jim Mattis. And I think there would be global panic if you saw the Secretary of Defense step down from his post. You have careerists in the White House. Those people are people who like the title, like the motorcade, like the fancy situations they find themselves in but don’t particularly like Donald Trump. And they think there’s some virtue in that. And, lastly, we just have your plain old hypocrite. People in there executing the President’s wishes on a daily basis who someday soon, when this is all over will be out there saying Donald Trump who? I was fighting him all along from the inside. The two have made names for themselves on MSNBC as ferocious critics of the modern Republican Party and the Trump White House. Schmidt said there were a variety of personalities working in the White House, some of them necessary to keep Trump at bay from his worst impulses. “We have a mix of people, you know, there, and there’s a few of them, though, that I think are vital to protecting, let’s say, the armed forces from the President of the United States, protecting the world from the whims of the President of the United States,” he said. “Because on any given moment, the combination of his erratic behavior, his ignorance could pose a profound danger to every single person in this country and literally every inhabitant of the planet Earth.” More Typical male suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome. Oh, yes, President Trump’s so unfit that he has made the USA economy boom and is clearing out the stench in the FBI. The Democrats are in shambles, but he’s the one unfit? Oh yeah sure!
