Immigrants in North Carolina and South Carolina shouldn’t worry about being arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement as they evacuate their homes or at the emergency shelters, an ICE spokesperson said Wednesday. Bryan Cox, spokesperson for ICE in the southern region, said everyone should follow local evacuation orders during Hurricane Florence. “Our highest priority remains the preservation of life and safety,” Cox said in an email. “In consideration of these circumstances, there will be no immigration enforcement initiatives associated with evacuations or sheltering related to Florence, except in the event of a serious public safety threat.” Hurricane Florence has forced more than 1 million residents in the Carolinas and Virginia to evacuate their homes. By Thursday afternoon, at least 13,000 people had filled North Carolina shelters, said a spokesperson for North Carolina’s Emergency Management Division. In South Carolina, there were 4,350 evacuees registered in the 61 shelters open in South Carolina, said Thom Berry, a South Carolina emergency management spokesperson. The storm is expected to make landfall on North Carolina’s southern coast sometime Thursday night or early Friday morning. The storm is expected to dump as much as 40 inches of rain in some isolated areas of the Carolinas. The outer wind bands of the storm began hitting the Carolinas coast early Thursday. Evacuees seeking emergency shelter in North Carolina are not required to show identification for assistance, said Ryan Hill, spokesperson for North Carolina’s Emergency Response Team. Most of the emergency shelters in South Carolina are requiring identification to keep track of how many people are seeking assistance, Berry said. The shelters are accepting any type of photo identification and are not turning people away based on immigration status, Berry said.
Poster Comment: The DACA "Dream Students" and other illegal aliens will continue to receive sanctuary. They haven't made any significant efforts to deport them yet, so why would they start now? Sanctuary Nation USA is the official policy of the ICE Trump administration. President Trump demands that congress do something about DACA, so "Bill of Love" DACA+ amnesty for the illegal aliens, aka Comprehensive Immigration Reform. Of course these future voters won't be rounded up and deported during a hurricane, or any other time. It's the way that the D&R party rolls.

You think they should have set up roadblocks to stop people leaving a dangerous area to check ID's?
In the entire history of the world,the only nations that had to build walls to keep their own citizens from leaving were those with leftist governments.
So now ICE is going PC too? You arrest criminals wherever you find them. Maybe ICE wants to give them a chance to drown or maybe get eaten by an alligator, instead of putting them in a nice fry airplane on their way back to Guatemala.
But...but...even the optics of arresting an illegal invader murderer would be villified by the MSM and social media (who both now control public opinion AND policy, apparently). Nope. Can't have THAT! We concur:

No, but if they have to evacuate the emergency shelters and there's not enough room on the buses for everyone, the illegal aliens should get left behind. If there's room on the ICE deportation buses, load 'em up and don't stop until they reach a banana boat headed for their homeland. It's mucho humanitarian, and all that shuck 'n jive. South Carolina's policy of requiring photo ID makes some sense if that info is to be used in establishing priorities for rescue efforts. US citizens should come first, and Dream Students and other illegal aliens can be rescued for deportation only if it doesn't hamper rescue efforts of US citizens.

I agree,but right now they don't have the time to waste,and calling in and waiting for ID checks takes time they don't have to spare.
