The Department of Homeland Security is not doing its job. As proof, I, David Feherty, a 17-year resident of the Dallas area but an Irishman by birth, recently became an American citizen. There goes the neighborhood—but yay, me! The reason I felt compelled to become an American is my Troops First Foundation, a nonprofit organization that does its best to improve the quality of life and future prospects of some of our most severely wounded servicemen and women. I became involved after my first trip to Iraq, on Thanksgiving in 2007, and it was there I first heard the name of Col. Robert Howard. The name was always spoken with reverence, but I had no idea who he was. Then an Army Ranger I’ll call Leroy (because that’s his name) told me he couldn’t go on my T1F Taliban Pheasant Hunt in South Dakota last year because he had a chance to meet Bob Howard, who was on his deathbed in Waco. Leroy’s decision really piqued my interest. Nobody turns down the Taliban Pheasant Hunt— and, perhaps more telling, nobody goes to Waco without a really good reason. It was then that I decided I had to find out who Howard was. A-googling I went. And it turned out that Robert Lewis Howard was a Green Beret and a TCU grad. He had appeared in two John Wayne movies, making a parachute jump in The Longest Day and playing an airborne instructor in The Green Berets—not exactly a stretch for him. Howard was the only soldier in the history of the United States to be nominated three times for the Medal of Honor, our country’s highest military decoration, which is awarded to members of the armed forces who distinguish themselves “conspicuously by gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while engaged in an action against an enemy of the United States.” The men who fought with Howard all agreed that he should have received a Medal of Honor for each one of his three citations—which explains why he was awarded two Distinguished Service Crosses (the second-highest honor, given in the Army). No matter. He had plenty of other gongs and ribbons. He had a Silver Star, several Bronze Stars, and eight Purple Hearts (though he was wounded 14 times). Then there was all the stuff awarded to him by the armed forces of other grateful nations. For the life of me, I couldn’t understand why neither I nor anyone else outside of the Army had heard of this extraordinary American. I had theories. First, many of Howard’s actions in theater were still classified. We know he was in Laos and Cambodia before we knew we were in Laos and Cambodia, but we just don’t know what he was up to, apart from getting nominated for the Medal of Honor every few months or so. This was back in the days when a clandestine operation could be run without having to broadcast it on C-SPAN first. Then there was the rest of the Vietnam war, the part we knew about. Howard received his Medal of Honor from Nixon in 1971, with his sweet little first-grade daughter Missy looking on from the front row. None of the TV networks covered the event. Though Audie Murphy and Alvin York both received a Medal of Honor for their actions in World War II and the Great War respectively, and got the ticker-tape parades, fame, and fortune they both deserved, Howard got nothing, because he fought in the war that the Flower Power generation, led by Jane Fonda and her ilk, who exercised the very rights that the men and women who served in Vietnam fought to protect, demonstrated against by (among other things) spitting in the faces of returning soldiers. You can probably guess how I feel about this issue. So after reading up on Howard, I decided to follow my friend Leroy’s lead and head down to Waco to meet the man myself. But before I could get down there, on Wednesday, December 23, 2009, Col. Robert Howard died at the age of 70. The next day, the Associated Press ran a 10-sentence obituary. The New York Times and Washington Post followed with slightly longer obits. I couldn’t believe the man’s passing had generated so little notice. I went to Waco anyway. Read rest at link.

Great story and point... Those guys who served in Nam, Laos and Cambodia were NO less heroic than "heroes" in any other war. Even more so in many cases. But because they were "secret", few know about their sagas. My theory is...about the MSM again. THEY are the ones who've we let define who is a "hero". More than that, they board-brushed ANY one who fought in the Nam theater as Persona Non-Grata. I'll NEVER forget them for creating the original "Resistance" who spit on returning soldiers...by NEVER DEFENDING OUR GUYS WHO RETURNED FROM HELL.

A dark agenda -- promoted by America's hijacked institutions -- has been grooming young confused people. These young confused people are encouraged to act even on the slightest inkling based on altered consciousness (drugs/alcohol), momentary weakness, curiosity, impetuousness, social media/cultural peer pressure (that happens to now be controlled by homosexuals.) Egregiously, institutional propaganda and promotion of and COERCION and NORMALIZING of what is STILL a straight up Mental Illness, ARE being "created" in some warped social engineering experiment. As of 1973, homosexuality was designated by the American Psychiatric Association as a Mental Illness. But Homos plotted and deceived the APA board members, then hijacked the vote. (That was the very same year SCOTUS was also hijacked and the bogus Roe v Wade decision legalized Baby-Murder in the womb. Coincidence?) So let the record speak for itself -- the APA as well as America's institutions and positions in high places have been captured and became controlled by homosexual fascists and rogue secular humanists. Historically, Homosexuality has been considered taboo for good reason(s): It's been routinely acknowledged as and recognized by ALL OF HUMANKIND since DAY ONE as wrong, a lie against nature, disgusting, unsanitary, and corruptible/destructive of spirit. Homosexuals are 99% deeply disturbed narcissists and moral relativists who also happen to hate God. Eventually, they begin hating themselves and everyone else. As though these aren't reasons enough to reject homosexuality as "just another lifestyle", it is an "Abomination" against God's Law. Btw -- RLK/Robert, are you ok?
I appreciate your short essay and points of view, but I disagree with this statement especially the hate God part. I don't want to get into a debate here and you agree that they (some) are born that way. That's what got petey suspended.
Bob was one of the finest men to have ever lived,and was completely fearless. To the point where he seemed to think everyone else was as fearless as him,so the stuff he was doing was no big deal. What he cared about was doing your duty,and if you could be counted on to do your duty,he was your friend. If you tried to avoid doing your duty,you weren't going to be around very long. Bob was one hell of a nice guy,but he didn't tolerate slackers. Best of all,with him back at the camp listening in on the radios,you KNEW that you weren't out there all alone with no help on the way. He was a guy that made things happen,and had an understanding of tactical situations second to none. Because of this and because he was Bob,people had a tendency to listen to his suggestions. BUT....,sitting back in the camp at the NCO club at night,he was just another guy you could bullshit with who told some of the best damn stories you ever heard. He had a way of telling what happened so well you could close your eyes and see it happening. He didn't really deal well with being the Recon Company 1st Sgt and forbidden to go off on missions,though. He compensated by doing stuff like going on solo rucksack runs on the road to Pleiku that passed through our camp. Some time in 69 a local VC seemed to have been tasked with sniping at vehicles passing down the highway to Kontum or Pleiku,but his heart really wasn't in it. He would shoot one time and then haul ass. I don't remember him every hitting anybody,although I think he might have hit a 3/4 ton truck one time without hurting anyone. Pretty much everybody just ignored him. Everybody but Bob. Bob seemed to take it as his personal mission to kill this guy before he hurt someone,thus the rucksack runs. He figured that running out there all alone would make him an irresistible target,and once the guy took one shot and missing,Bob would be off running him down. The guy never took the bait,though. He just quit shooting at trucks one day and nobody knows why. Bob did like a challenge,though. When he eventually came home from VN,he decided he wanted to go to Ranger School,so off he went. WAAAY older than the typical student,he still carried more weight and did more than anyone else in the program. For some reason (jealousy?) some of the Ranger cadre did their damnedest to make him quit by always putting him in command positions where he got the least amount of rest,but he beat them all without flashing his Medal of Honor or calling any of the Generals he knew and complaining about the unfair treatment. He just manned up and did what needed to be done. IIRC,he was even the Honor Graduate,surprising absolutely no one that knew him. If Bob said he was going to do something,it got done. The last I heard of him on active duty was back in the 90's when I was working with SF Training Group as a civilian consultant on Robin Sage. Some of the active duty guys there had either worked with Bob when he was the commanding officer of F Company at McCall,or had actually been students while he was commanding there. I flat laughed my ass off at some of the stories they told me of students who didn't know who he really was or what he had done trying to run little scams on him during training. Like the fool that fell in for the morning rucksack run one morning with nothing in his rucksack but a partially inflated air mattress. Bob made him go back and load his rucksack with the load it was supposed to have had all along,and then put someone else in charge of the morning run and told the slacker,"You are I are going to run in our own little formation,and you either keep up with me,or you flunk out of the course." Keep in mind that Bob was a Major in his late 40's at the time,and this guy was maybe 22 and HAD to figure keeping up with the "old guy" was going to be easy. Bob ran his ass into the ground,and then sent a jeep out to bring him back to camp to pack his gear and prepare to go back to his unit. The last time I saw him was by accident the year he died. I just happened to turn on the tv one morning,and there was Bob,helping Bathhouse Barry put a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on Memorial Day. I was shocked to see how little and how old he looked. That was when I knew he was dying. The day that Bob did die,the talking heads on ABC,CBS,and NBC (and probably others) took note of his death and Tom Brokaw talked for several minutes about how special Bob Howard was and his remarkable life and contributions to America. They all knew him because he did a lot of charity and veterans appearances as a Medal of Honor winner after retiring,and made several trips to the Muddle East to visit with the troops. Bob was the "real deal man" in every respect,and one of the finest examples of humanity that I ever met. I am proud of even being allowed to talk with him,never mind serve with him. BTW,stating the obvious,it looks like I'm not banned anymore.

I don’t know if homosexuals are born that way, what percent are if indeed they are, I suspect some are, due to a lower than average testosterone bath in the womb, but does it really matter? I mean seriously, with all the fucked up stuff to worry about, how does that even begin to register on the GAF meter? I used to care quite a bit about the degraded culture of the country, hence my name, but as I’ve grown older, and I’ve grown older conversing with many of you on here, the stuff that matters is sort of boiled down to corruption in our government. That’s pretty much all that animates me anymore. All the rest is just divide and conquer wedge issues while our pockets are being picked. Distractions.

You are correct. Plenty of cops with ego problems... or too stupid to make good decisions or even lacking common sense. Some are just outright criminal minded. However EVERY profession has its bad apples. I think overall, for a profession that requires authority and command presence, LE is not bad, IMHO. I worked 20 years in NYS, knew thousands of cops. I know most are decent folk that are very constitutional right minded. Dicktard has an agenda... just like the libtards do. He propagates bias bullshit to feed his sheep following. I think overall, for a profession that requires authority and command presence, LE is not bad, IMHO. Yup. Hear ya. IF we're intellectual honest, YOUR overview and perspective is as close to the truth as can be. What I am disturbed by and WILL note (and I'm sure you'll agree) is that due to SJW/SPLC/ACLU pressure, LE standards have been lowered to an abysmal degree. THIS may be the reason that we are seeing a level of LE stupidity far more often that we used to. Moreover, thanks to 0bama and his Leftist minions and the SJW Culture, Cops are now blames for EVERYTHING, spit-on and targeted for Disrespect & Hate (especially in Lib-Cities and towns.) We also see that this also means The Law itself is spit on AND hated. (But that's Commies-Hypocrites-Anarchists for ya). So thanks to SJW-mandated lowered standards for being a cop, in the military, and in every other profession where MALES are its natural best), the new LEO hires are actually MORE stupid and LESS inclined to possess a discipline, common sense, physicality and command presence to diffuse difficult situations that the job does requires. And let's face it -- PART of LEO's job is deterrence BEFORE criminals even think of breaking the law or acting dumb. 2) 100 lbs CHICKS 1) For the bigger departments in urban settings, yes. The Chiefs take heat not hiring to the same percentage as the populace in their jurisdiction. Hell, even these super snowflake Mayors put under qualified chiefs in, based on color. The department I retired from had few minority’s. The few we had were subpar officers. One was shit canned for many reasons... but the reason he got AXED, was being insubordinate to me after I gave the shitbag a direct order. He did scream racism... and in his tiny mind, he really believed it... just AXE him. My department kept him longer than they would have a white officer, for fear of being sued. That’s how bad an officer he was. But Insubordination was his nail in the coffin. In reality, all color or sex officers get shit canned for straight out insubordination. 2). As far as female officers. I’m not a huge fan. Sure I’ve seen good officers that were female, but the best female officer still lacks in the physical strength department from even a subpar male. As a supervisor, I created a more difficult job, making sure my females that were lead car to a physical domestic or bar fight, didn’t get their asses handed to them, where I didn’t worry with one of the guys. It caused issues on nights where I had a light shift... and of course I had to protect these females in a way it wasn’t obvious... so I wasn’t sued for treating some differently. Shift supervisor, as a road cop, was the Mose gun, rewarding and difficult job I’ve ever done.

I mean seriously, with all the fucked up stuff to worry about, how does that even begin to register on the GAF meter? I used to care quite a bit about the degraded culture of the country, hence my name, but as I’ve grown older, and I’ve grown older conversing with many of you on here, the stuff that matters is sort of boiled down to corruption in our government. That’s pretty much all that animates me anymore.

Members of the "National Gay Task Force" managed to get the addresses of APA members, and with-out identifying themselves, sent out harassing letters to all members demanding they vote to remove homosexuality from the list of mental illnesses in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM), the APA's classification guide for mental disorders.
