New York's attorney general announced on Thursday she was suing the Trump Foundation, as well as Donald Trump and his children, alleging "extensive and persistent" lawbreaking. Barbara Underwood said the charitable foundation had engaged in "unlawful political coordination" designed to influence the 2016 election. The lawsuit seeks to dissolve the foundation, Ms Underwood said. Also named in the suit were Mr Trump's children, Ivanka, Eric, and Donald Jr. In a statement, Ms Underwood said Mr Trump had illegally instructed his foundation to provide support to his presidential campaign by using the foundation's name and funds it raised to promote the campaign. The lawsuit alleges that the foundation paid $100,000 to settle legal claims against Mr Trump's Mar-A-Lago resort, $158,000 to settle claims against one of his gold clubs, and $10,000 to purchase a painting of Mr Trump to hang at another of his gold clubs. The purchase of the painting was an example of one of "at least five self- dealing transactions", the statement said, which violate tax regulations on non-profit charities. Donald Trump hit back at the lawsuit on Twitter, saying that "sleazy New York democrats" were "doing everything they can to sue me on a foundation that took in $18,800,000 and gave out to charity more money than it took in, $19,200,000. I won't settle this case!..." The lawsuit seeks to ban the president from serving as the director of any New York non-profit for 10 years, and seeks similar one year bans for each of his children, who serve on the foundation's board. 'A new front opened up' Anthony Zurcher, North America reporter New York Attorney General Barbara Underwood has opened a new front in the ongoing criminal investigations into Donald Trump and his empire. Allegations of misdeeds connected to the Trump Foundation had swirled during the 2016 presidential elections, but the topic had been overshadowed during the early days of the Trump presidency. That may be about to change. Administration officials, from the president on down, will certainly attempt to brand this as yet another politically motivated investigation of an ideological adversary - new witches but the same hunt. Nevertheless, as New York attorney general Ms Underwood has significant investigatory and prosecutorial power - and if she starts flushing the bushes of some of Mr Trump's more questionable charitable activities, there's no telling what she might turn up. At the very least, it appears the Trump world's celebrations of former Attorney General Eric Schneiderman's disgrace were a bit premature. Ms Underwood may not be as outspokenly anti-Trump as her predecessor, but she appears to be equally - or more - aggressive where it counts, in courtroom.

1. What exactly is illegal? It is quite clear that one of the main duties of the AG is protecting the public through criminal and civil litigation. 2. The "poor donnie" "he's a victim" bullshit is becoming tiresome and is pathetic.

The New York AG? Never. By Colby Hamilton [excerpt] Schneiderman said concerns about the Clinton Foundation's fundraising did not rise to the level of an investigation. He said compliance issues with the Clintons’ foundation amounted to “ministerial, routines stuff” such as late filings or missing paperwork, and that the foundation “is properly registered and properly filed,” unlike Trump’s foundation. Critics of the Clinton Foundation have called for an examination of the hundreds of millions of dollars from individuals who met with the then-secretary of state after either donating or promising to donate in the future, which included funding from foreign governments. Schneiderman said that the rules for reporting government funds have not been found to apply to foreign governments. “No New York State attorney general, Republican or Democrat, has ever interpreted that [rule] to require foundations to report on funding from foreign governments,” Schneiderman said. “We’re not in a position to check that out and enforce it. We leave that to our federal counterparts.” For his office, the overriding concern is corruption that involves local or state funds raised by a foundation, Schneiderman said. By Post Editorial Board Attorney General Eric Schneiderman believes in “one set of rules for everyone, no matter how rich or powerful,” his Web site says. It needs a footnote: *Except when it comes to Hillary Clinton. Scripps News this week reported that the AG “has the power to force the Clinton Foundation and the Clinton Health Access Initiative to publicly disclose” gifts from individual foreign governments — but Schneiderman isn’t using that power. Hmm: In 2012, the AG began harassing nonprofits for the names of donors and gifts. Last week, he bragged that forcing the group Citizens United to provide such info would help him protect “against fraud and abuse.” So why not press the Clinton charities? Maybe Schneiderman’s support for Hillary (he’s on her “leadership council” in New York) has something to do with it .?.?. State law, and instructions from the AG’s office, requires nonprofits to list government agencies’ gifts. But Scripps’ investigation found that “year after year the Clinton charities have ignored New York law.” Instead, they merely gave a lump-sum total of their foreign gifts. And Schneiderman kept mum. The AG’s office says the law doesn’t say nonprofits must detail giving by foreign “government agencies” — and Schneiderman is working to clarify the rules. Yet he saw no need for clarification when it came to Citizens United, which has long blown the whistle on Clinton shenanigans. Schneiderman’s hypocrisy is clear as day: He picks his fights based on the politics. He claims to guard against “fraud and abuse” at nonprofits, but who’s guarding against abuse by him?

Herr Schneiderman does not engage in any definition "law enforcement" or bi-partisan "investigation". His goal as we know is not "law enforcement or "justice"; Schneiderman is nothing but a mob-boss, a Capo, sadistic Reichsführer-SS with a badge ordering *certain* neighborhood storefronts (R) be smashed and legs (R) broken...JUST BECAUSE.
