United States News Title: Netflix Learns The Hard Way That Hiring Barack & Michelle Was A Disastrous Mistake Mad World News Netflix announced this week that the company had hired Barack and Michelle Obama to produce shows and films as part of a multi-year deal. Well, it didnt take long for the streaming service to learn the hard way that the move to bring the Obamas on board was a disastrous mistake. Former First Lady Michelle Obama and former President Barack Obama Barack and Michelle Obama have entered a multiyear agreement to produce new films and shows with Netflix. The former president and first lady are determined to produce a diverse mix of content, including a potential scripted series, an unscripted series, a docu-series, documentaries, and features, according to a press release from Netflix about the deal. According to Fox News, the streaming service revealed the projects will be available to their 125 million members in 190 countries and the couple established Higher Ground Productions, which will serve as the entity under which they will produce content for Netflix. One of the simple joys of our time in public service was getting to meet so many fascinating people from all walks of life, and to help them share their experiences with a wider audience, Mr. Obama in a statement. Thats why Michelle and I are so excited to partner with Netflix we hope to cultivate and curate the talented, inspiring, creative voices who are able to promote greater empathy and understanding between peoples, and help them share their stories with the entire world. Michelle said the couples willingness to pursue filming after their time in the White House was a no-brainer. Barack and I have always believed in the power of storytelling to inspire us, to make us think differently about the world around us, and to help us open our minds and hearts to others, she said. Netflixs unparalleled service is a natural fit for the kinds of stories we want to share, and we look forward to starting this exciting new partnership. Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos said the streaming service is thrilled to have the Obamas as part of their creative team and are eager to see what the couple has to offer for viewers. Barack and Michelle Obama are among the worlds most respected and highly-recognized public figures and are uniquely positioned to discover and highlight stories of people who make a difference in their communities and strive to change the world for the better, explained Sarandos. We are incredibly proud they have chosen to make Netflix the home for their formidable storytelling abilities. However, within hours of this announcement, fed-up Americans who are tired of being bombarded by the Obamas at every turn had taken to social media to launch a boycott of Netflix. What a mistake @netflix has made! We had to listen and deal with this fool for 8 years! #boycottnetflix #netflix #obama Landon (@lundolicious) May 21, 2018 #boycottnetflix WE ARE OUT! pic.twitter.com/hKHBq1UHid Gary Gersin (@GaryandMichelle) May 21, 2018 CANCELED mine and made notation to my account cancelation was due to deal made with Obama. They said they are taking feed back about this situation at this time and passing it on to administration. #screwyouobama, #boycottnetflix pic.twitter.com/BLth3z1mD2 Kelly Waldroup (@WaldroupKelly) May 22, 2018 Just canceled my @netflix subscription! #BoycottNetflix Chad Zichterman (@chadzichterman) May 21, 2018 Also dumped my Netflix stock today! #BoycottNetflix pic.twitter.com/mu2OIydGaD Tom (@tomcapitalism) May 22, 2018 #BoycottNetflix. Im out. But hey @netflix, if you want to air a documentary on Obama being tried for treason, i just may come back. pic.twitter.com/NH2o21KuUK Memphisjayhawk (@memphisjayhawk) May 22, 2018 #BoycottNetflix yep Im canceling my subscription. Why would you ruin a perfectly good thing by involving Obama and all his thugs?? Deplorable Tracy Orange is the new Barack. Netflix is the new CNN. #BoycottNetflix Kyle McGrath (@TheGray168) May 21, 2018 The American people are sick and tired of the Obamas at this point. We were forced to put up with them for eight long years while they inhabited the White House. Now, wed just like them to go away, thank you very much. It isnt typical for a former president and first lady to try so desperately to stay in the spotlight even after they leave the White House. We almost never hear from the Carters or the Bushes unless they are doing some sort of bipartisan charity work. The Obamas, on the other hand, have seemingly been clamoring for every new photo-op and paycheck they can get their hands on since they were booted from the Peoples House upon Trumps inauguration. While Netflix didnt say exactly how much they will be paying the Obamas, were guessing its more than the company will be able to sustain after losing a substantial portion of their membership.

Boycott? How about just not watching? Netflix keeps track of viewers, so they'll get the message.
Hiring the Obamas was a terrible business decision !!! I read on another site that the number of subscription cancellations was HUGE !!
I agree, but I'm sure Netflix had their reasons, and those reasons may go beyond simple ratings. Netflix has too much good programming for me to cancel. Like many others I'm sure, I won't be watching the Obamas -- 8 years was enough.
It isn't that good. And there are plenty of ways to get that content without Netflix.
Yeah, you're right. Game of Thrones and House of Cards really sucked.
I have them but didn't get them from Netflix. Besides, GoT is an HBO property so you're getting late sloppy seconds if you watch it on Netflix. HoC is cancelled. Notice they took a more classic approach to killing off the SS bodyguard who was in a threesome with Frank & Claire Underwood. And Frank's gaiety emerged with that college reunion show too though I don't recall the details of that because it was such a boring episode and I think I only half-watched it.

Only because Spacey couldn't control himself off-camera.
